Amid the rapid changes in our health care system there are growing demands on executives. No one can be certain the skills demanded of a CEO in the years ahead will match those required today. In the future CEO's may have a wider range of experience and come from a more varied background than has traditionally been the case. This article will help trustees to prepare for their next CEO appointment, and will alert health care organizations to the challenges of selecting a CEO from outside the health care field.
