[Musculo-venous "pump" of the foot in patients with varicose disease].Vestn Khir Im I I Grek. 1986 Dec; 137(12):56-61.VK
Methods of rheovasography, phlebotonometry and phlebography of the foot were used for studying the musculo-venous "pump" of the foot in 75 patients with varicose disease. It was found that the latter is responsible for up to 30% of the venous return of blood from lower extremities in walking. Dysfunction of the foot musculo-venous "pump" makes its appearance in patients with varicose disease at the decompensation stage with complicated course of the disease. The preoperative examination of the patients must establish the functional state of this structure, the correction of the alterations found being included in the operation volume.
