Abstract

In an attempt to determine the effect of allergic treatment on the Eustachian tube, twenty-four children underwent baseline Eustachian tube testing, with follow-up testing after treatment at six weeks, three months, and six months. The allergy therapy had no effect on the ability of the children to equilibrate negative pressure in the middle ear. There was no effect on opening Eustachian tube pressure, but the allergy treatment did lower Eustachian tube closing pressures.
