Samples collected using urine collection pads were compared to the standard clean-catch method using sterile foil bowls. No significant differences were observed in the outcome of tests from samples collected by the two methods over the course of a short nurse-led trial, and the hospital has adopted the urine collection pad for routine paediatric UTI sampling.
