  • Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation in Pediatric Motor Disorders: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis. [Review]
  • APArch Phys Med Rehabil 2018 Nov 07
  • Saleem GT, Crasta JE, … Suskauer SJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: Based on the studies reviewed, tDCS is a safe technique in pediatric motor disorders and may improve some gait measures and involuntary movements. Research to date in pediatric motor disorders shows limited effectiveness in improving balance and upper-extremity function. tDCS may serve as a potential adjunct to pediatric rehabilitation; to better understand if tDCS is beneficial for pediatric motor disorders, more well-designed RCTs are needed.
  • Propulsive Forces Applied to the Body's Center of Mass Affect Metabolic Energetics Post-Stroke. [Journal Article]
  • APArch Phys Med Rehabil 2018 Nov 01
  • Penke K, Scott K, … Lewek M
  • CONCLUSIONS: Systematically manipulating propulsive forces at the body's COM had a profound influence on metabolic cost. The timing of propulsive forces to the COM are important and need to coincide with paretic terminal stance. Additional internally or externally generated propulsive forces applied to the body's COM after stroke may produce a lower metabolic cost of walking.
  • Operational Definitions and Estimates of Return-to-Work after Stroke: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. [Review]
  • APArch Phys Med Rehabil 2018 Oct 24
  • Duong P, Sauvé-Schenk K, … Morrison T
  • CONCLUSIONS: Operational definitions varied across studies and were often not explicitly reported. To promote comparability of RTW outcomes in future studies, we recommend working towards a universal operational definition and consistent follow-up times. The more precise estimates calculated in this review could be used as benchmarks for healthcare and social service providers.
