- Finite element modeling and experimental characterization of crosstalk in 1-D CMUT arrays. [Journal Article]
- Crosstalk is the coupling of energy between the elements of an ultrasonic transducer array. This coupling degrades the performance of transducers in applications such as medical imaging and therapeutics. In this paper, we present an experimental demonstration of guided interface waves in capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs). We compare the experimental results to finite element…
- Report of the APSAC task force on attachment therapy, reactive attachment disorder, and attachment problems. [Review]
- Although the term attachment disorder is ambiguous, attachment therapies are increasingly used with children who are maltreated, particularly those in foster care or adoptive homes. Some children described as having attachment disorders show extreme disturbances. The needs of these children and their caretakers are real. How to meet their needs is less clear. A number of attachment-based treatmen…
- Plasminogen activators: a comparison. [Review]
- Thrombolytic drugs play a crucial role in the management of patients with acute myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, arterial thrombosis, acute thrombosis of retinal vessel, extensive coronary emboli, and peripheral vascular thromboembolism. - Clinical and economic outcomes in thrombolytic treatment of peripheral arterial occlusive disease and deep venous thrombosis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: There were significant differences in outcome in patients with PAO and DVT who received treatment with urokinase and rt-PA. While pharmacy costs were significantly greater when urokinase was used, reduction in length of stay accounted for similar total hospital costs compared with rt-PA. These findings must be considered in the context of the retrospective nature of the analysis and the potential to use dosing regimens that differ from those in this study.

- The costs and benefits of community thrombolysis for acute myocardial infarction : a decision-analytic model. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This model suggests that, from the UK NHS perspective, implementing community thrombolysis may lead to extra survival but at extra cost over hospital thrombolysis. Although the incremental cost per life-year is modest, judgements still have to be made, however, as to whether the extra benefits estimated are worth the additional resources required. This requires consideration of the local context in which the service may be introduced.
- Thrombolytic therapy in acute myocardial infarction. [Journal Article]Drugs Today (Barc). 1998 Aug; 34(8):727-36.DT
- Thrombolytic therapy represents the major advancement for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction (MI) that has been achieved in recent years. Based on the recognition of acute totally occlusive intracoronary thrombosis as the primary cause of ST-elevation MI, thrombolytics were evaluated alone or in combination with antithrombotics for the treatment of acute MI. Streptokinase, APSAC and t-P…
- Thrombin activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI) affects fibrinolysis in a plasminogen activator concentration-dependent manner. Study of seven plasminogen activators in an internal clot lysis model. [Journal Article]
- TAFIa was shown to attenuate fibrinolysis. In our in vitro study, we investigated how the inhibitory effect of TAFIa depended on the type and concentration of the plasminogen activator (PA). We measured PA-mediated lysis times of plasma clots under conditions of maximal TAFI activation by thrombin-thrombo-modulin in the absence and presence of potato carboxypeptidase inhibitor. Seven different PA…
