  • [Actinomycosis]. [Review]
    Rev Med Suisse 2019; 15(666):1790-1794Stabrowski T, Chuard C
  • Actinomycosis is a chronic bacterial infection, caused by the genus Actinomyces, commensal of the digestive and genital tract. The most common presentation of the disease affects the cervicofacial region, but other anatomical sites in the abdomen, thorax and central nervous system may be involved. Differential diagnosis includes neoplasia. Prolonged culture of deep samples in an anaerobic environ…
  • Awakening ancient polar Actinobacteria: diversity, evolution and specialized metabolite potential. [Journal Article]
    Microbiology 2019Millán-Aguiñaga N, Soldatou S, … Duncan KR
  • Polar and subpolar ecosystems are highly vulnerable to global climate change with consequences for biodiversity and community composition. Bacteria are directly impacted by future environmental change and it is therefore essential to have a better understanding of microbial communities in fluctuating ecosystems. Exploration of Polar environments, specifically sediments, represents an exciting opp…
  • Tetany in an Extensively Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (XDR-TB) Patient Treated with Capreomycin. [Case Reports]
    J Assoc Physicians India 2019; 67(8):79-82Puri MM, Kumar A, … Sarin R
  • Gross electrolytes disturbances including hypokalemia, hypomagnesaemia, and hypocalcaemia have been reported in tuberculosis patients who have been treated with capreomycin.1-3 Capreomycin is recommended in the treatment of M. tuberculosis isolates resistant to kanamycin at baseline in multi drug resistant tuberculosis patients (MDR - TB) and treatment of extensively drug resistant tuberculosis (…
  • Human as a potential vector of bovine tuberculosis in cattle. [Journal Article]
    Ann Agric Environ Med 2019; 26(3):396-399Krajewska-Wędzina M, Weiner M, … Szulowski K
  • CONCLUSIONS: Although not bacteriologically proven, everything points to the fact that humans were the vector of bovine tuberculosis transmission between herds. This finding confirms transmission between 3 cattle herds in the Małopolskie Province in southern Poland (Podhale). The outbreak of tuberculosis in animals finally compromised public health.
  • [Cloning, expression and purification of novel gene Rv2742 in Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv]. [Journal Article]
    Sheng Wu Gong Cheng Xue Bao 2019; 35(9):1771-1786Zhao J, Wu S, … Xu P
  • Rv2742 is a novel gene identified from Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv by the proteogenomics strategy. The aim of this study was to establish a system of soluble expression and purification of the missing protein Rv2742 in M. tuberculosis H37Rv, to provide reference for further research on the biological function of Rv2742. The soluble protein was not successfully induced by prokaryotic expressi…
  • [Effect of fcl gene for butenyl-spinosyn biosynthesis and growth of Saccharopolyspora pogona]. [Journal Article]
    Sheng Wu Gong Cheng Xue Bao 2019; 35(9):1662-1675Peng S, He H, … Xia L
  • The fcl gene encodes GDP-fucose synthase, which catalyzes two-step differential isomerase and reductase reactions in the synthesis of GDP-L-fucose from GDP-D-mannose. It also participates in the biosynthesis of amino sugar and ribose sugar, and is one of the key enzymes to regulate the metabolism of sugar and nucleotides in organisms. The presence of fcl gene in Saccharopolyspora pogona was found…
