- Drugs and Lactation Database (LactMed): Acetaminophen [BOOK]Drugs and Lactation Database (LactMed). National Library of Medicine (US): Bethesda (MD)BOOK
- Acetaminophen is a good choice for analgesia, and fever reduction in nursing mothers. Amounts in milk are much less than doses usually given to infants. Adverse effects in breastfed infants appear to be rare.
- Diaminocyclohexane-Functionalized/Thioglycolic Acid-Modified Gold Nanoparticle-Based Colorimetric Sensing of Trinitrotoluene and Tetryl. [Journal Article]
- Detection of explosive residues in soil and postblast debris is an important issue in sensor design for environmental and criminological purposes. An easy-to-use and low-cost gold nanoparticle (AuNP)-based colorimetric sensor was developed for the determination of nitroaromatic explosives, i.e., trinitrotoluene (TNT) and tetryl, capable of analyte detection at picomolar (pM) levels. The sensor na…

- Stroke Minimization through Additive Anti-atherosclerotic Agents in Routine Treatment (SMAART): study protocol for a randomized controlled trial. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: An efficacy-suggesting SMAART trial could inform the future design of a multi-center, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, randomized controlled trial comparing the clinical efficacy of the polypill strategy for vascular risk moderation among stroke survivors in SSA.

- Perioperative Aspirin for Prevention of Venous Thromboembolism: The PeriOperative ISchemia Evaluation-2 Trial and a Pooled Analysis of the Randomized Trials. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: Aspirin in the POISE-2 trial did not reduce VTE, but two thirds of patients received anticoagulant prophylaxis, there were few VTE events, and results were consistent with a wide range of aspirin effects. A pooled analysis of the randomized trials demonstrates evidence for the efficacy of aspirin for VTE prevention in hospitalized surgical patients.
- General approach for electrochemical detection of persistent pharmaceutical micropollutants: Application to acetaminophen. [Journal Article]
- We propose in this work a general and versatile methodology for electrochemical monitoring of persistent pharmaceutical micropollutants. The system presented is based on an electroactive and electropolymerized hapten (mimetic molecule of the pollutant to be detected) and a specific antibody that competitively binds either the hapten or the pollutant. The current delivered by the device depends on…

- Evaluation of PIK3CA mutation as a predictor of benefit from nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug therapy in colorectal cancer. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: Although tumor PIK3CA mutation does not predict benefit from rofecoxib treatment, it merits further evaluation as a predictive biomarker for aspirin therapy. Our findings are concordant with recent data and support the prospective investigation of adjuvant aspirin in PIK3CA-mutant CRC.

- Extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy in patients treated with antithrombotic agents. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Our schedules for the suspension or substitution of antithrombotic therapy, although tested in a small number of patients, allowed us to perform SWL without hemorrhagic or thromboembolic complications.
- Acute effects of acetylsalicylic acid on renal function in normal man. [Controlled Clinical Trial]
- The acute effects of therapeutic doses of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) on renal water and solute output, and the possible interaction of ASA with the diuretic effects of furosemide, have been studied in a double blind double cross over study in healthy human subjects. There was a significant decrease in 24 h sodium excretion and Na/K ratio in urine in the ASA-treated subjects. The effect of ASA on …
