- C1-inhibitor/C1-inhibitor antibody complexes in acquired angioedema due to C1-inhibitor deficiency. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Free circulating and complex antibodies are in a dynamically changing equilibrium. CAC measurements can help to predict the development of an underlying disease. The efficiency of the treatment for underlying disease can be monitored by the decreasing CAC titers. Our results show that the CAC can be of important additional information besides the complement panel examination in case of C1-INH-AAE. Measurement of CAC is recommended to be done parallelly with C1-INH-Ab, so as to detect both free and bound antibodies.

- The lifetime prevalence of urticaria, a severe allergic disease, is almost 20%. It not only limits the quality of life of those affected, but also their general performance at work and in their daily activities. This publication is the first section of the Urticaria Guideline. It covers the classification and diagnosis of urticaria, taking into account the major advances in research into its caus…

- Case report: Severe chronic spontaneous urticaria successfully treated with omalizumab and dupilumab. [Case Reports]
- Urticaria is a disease triggered by mast cells and characterized by recurrent symptoms such as wheals and/or angioedema. Most patients benefit from treatment with antihistamines (AH) or, if not effective enough, from additional therapy with omalizumab, which leads to significant symptom relief. Here we present a patient with therapy-resistant chronic spontaneous urticaria treated with AH, omalizu…

- Alpha-gal syndrome initially misdiagnosed as chronic spontaneous urticaria in a pediatric patient: a case report and review of the literature. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: A detailed clinical history led to the diagnosis of alpha-gal syndrome. Although alpha-gal syndrome is typically seen in adults, our case illustrates that children can also present with this potentially life-threatening allergy. Since alpha-gal syndrome is rare in Europe, the disease is not well known and often overlooked for several years, especially in children.

- Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is primarily a T2-dominant disease with a complex genetic background. Skin mast cell activation can be induced not only via the IgE-FcεRI axis but also from several other distinct mechanisms, molecules, and receptors involved in CSU onset, persistence, and exacerbation. These include autoallergy, autoimmunity, central or peripheral neuroimmune dysregulation, ac…

Pathophysiologically angioedemas can be divided into mast cell-mediated or bradykinin-mediated forms. Differentiation is essential due to the different therapeutic strategies. - Oral drug provocation tests (DPT) are the basic diagnostic tool for the detection of hypersensitivity to non-opioid analgesics and for selecting a safe alternative for a patient. They are of great practical importance due to their common use, but the data on the follow-up of patients after negative DPT are still very scarce. We examined the further fate of 164 such adult patients after negative N…
