- The incidence of Bandl's ring and its impact on labor outcomes: a review of the published literature. [Review]J Perinat Med. 2025 Oct 27; 53(8):959-965.JP
- Obstructed labor is a serious obstetric emergency that can lead to uterine rupture, and significant maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. Bandl first described this condition, of abnormal retraction of the uterus occurring during obstructed labor, characterized by a constriction between the thinned lower uterine segment and the thick, retracted upper uterine portion. To determine the in…

- Monitoring intrapartum fetal heart rates by mothers in labour in two public hospitals: an initiative to improve maternal and neonatal healthcare in Liberia. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Women in labour were able to monitor and detect changes in their FHR. Most found the experience beneficial. The absence of intrapartum stillbirths after admission and the low rate of poor neonatal outcomes are promising and warrant further investigation.

- Emergent Cesarean Section in a Bandl's Ring Patient: An Obstetrics and Gynecology Simulation Scenario. [Journal Article]
- Bandl's ring is a rare pathology, although its incidence is thought to be rising. Training curricula for treating this condition is almost nonexistent. Patients who present with this disease require specific management and treatment. Practicing these techniques in a medical simulation lab allows trainees to hone their skills in a safe, inconsequential environment. We present a simulated case in w…

- CONCLUSIONS: Although rare, pathologic uterine rings may cause traumatic cranial deformity and subsequent cerebral palsy.
- Recurrent Bandl's ring as an etiology for failed vaginal birth after cesarean section. [Case Reports]
- A pathologic retraction ring (Bandl's ring) of the uterus is a constriction located at the junction of the thinned lower uterine segment and the thick retracted upper uterine segment that is associated with obstructed labor. The following is the first reported case of recurrent pathologic retraction ring and an attempted vaginal birth after cesarean section following such an abnormality.
