  • Adult congenital heart disease with pulmonary arterial hypertension: mechanisms and management. [Review]
    Heart Fail Rev 2019Papamichalis M, Xanthopoulos A, … Triposkiadis F
  • Adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) encompasses a range of structural cardiac abnormalities present before birth attributable to abnormal foetal cardiac development. The pulmonary circulation of patients with ACHD and intracardiac or extracardiac defects is often exposed to increased blood flow and occasionally to systemic pressures. Depending on the location and magnitude of the defect as well…
  • [Analysis of hemodynamics and outcomes of pregnant women with congenital heart disease-pulmonary arterial hypertension]. [Journal Article]
Zhonghua Fu Chan Ke Za Zhi 2019; 54(7):438-444Zhang LL, Zhang J
  • CONCLUSIONS: (1) SPAP keeps rising during gestation in all patients with CHD-PAH, and the SPAP decreases after termination but it's still higher than the early pregnancy's SPAP. This suggests that pregnancy would exacerbate these patients' heart problems, the risk should be fully considered before and during pregnancy. (2) Patients with severe CHD-PAH or combined with Eisenmenger syndrome have lager right atrium area, smaller left ventricular end-diastolic diameter, worse cardiac function, and bigger changes of hemodynamic, the incidence of adverse outcomes of mothers and children is also high, pregnancy should be avoided.
  • Lung Perfusion Scintigraphy in Eisenmenger Syndrome Due to Patent Ductus Arteriosus. [Journal Article]
    Clin Nucl Med 2019Mitsui K, Woodhams R, … Inoue Y
  • Eisenmenger syndrome refers to the elevation of pulmonary arterial pressure to the systemic level caused by an increased pulmonary vascular resistance with right-to-left shunt through an intracardiac or aortopulmonary communication. A 36-year-old woman with Eisenmenger syndrome due to patent ductus arteriosus underwent Tc-MAA lung perfusion scintigraphy to evaluate right-to-left shunt. Whole-body…
