  • Erlotinib for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer with Leptomeningeal Metastases: A Phase II Study (LOGIK1101). [Journal Article]
    Oncologist. 2020 Jul 12 [Online ahead of print]Nosaki K, Yamanaka T, … Sugio K
  • CONCLUSIONS: This phase II trial evaluated the efficacy of erlotinib for patients with non-small cell lung cancer with leptomeningeal metastasis. The 17 cerebrospinal fluid specimens that were available for epidermal growth factor receptor mutation analysis were all negative for the resistance-conferring T790M mutation. The cytological objective clearance rate was 30.0% (95% confidence interval: 11.9%-54.3%). The median time to progression was 2.2 months. The rate of cerebrospinal fluid penetration among these patients was equivalent to those in previous reports regarding leptomeningeal metastasis.Erlotinib was active for LM and may be a treatment option for patients with EGFR-mutated NSCLC and LM.
  • Performance validity test failure in clinical populations-a systematic review. [Review]
    J Neurol Neurosurg Psychiatry. 2020 Jul 10 [Online ahead of print]McWhirter L, Ritchie CW, … Carson A
  • Performance validity tests (PVTs) are widely used in attempts to quantify effort and/or detect negative response bias during neuropsychological testing. However, it can be challenging to interpret the meaning of poor PVT performance in a clinical context. Compensation-seeking populations predominate in the PVT literature. We aimed to establish base rates of PVT failure in clinical populations wit…

    Plants (Basel). 2020 Jul 08; 9(7)Kashkan I, Timofeyenko K, … Růžička K
  • Rapid progress in plant molecular biology in recent years has uncovered the main players in hormonal pathways and characterized transcriptomic networks associated with hormonal response. However, the role of RNA processing, in particular alternative splicing (AS), remains largely unexplored. Here, using example genes involved in cytokinin signaling, brassinosteroid synthesis and auxin transport, …
  • The Effect of a Taper Angle on Micro-Compression Testing of Mo-B-C Coatings. [Journal Article]
    Materials (Basel). 2020 Jul 08; 13(14)Zábranský L, Bernátová K, … Buršíková V
  • This research was devoted to studying the influence of the taper angle on the micro-compression of micro-pillars fabricated from near-amorphous and nanocrystalline Mo-B-C coatings. A series of micro-pillars with a taper angle between 4-14° was fabricated by focused ion beam technique. The deformation mechanism was found to be dependent on the taper and, also, on the crystallinity of the coating. …
  • Surface Engineering of Liquid Metal Nanodroplets by Attachable Diblock Copolymers. [Journal Article]
    ACS Nano. 2020 Jul 10 [Online ahead of print]Wei Q, Sun M, … Matyjaszewski K
  • Liquid metal (LM) micro/nano droplets have promising applications in various fields such as flexible electronics, catalysis, and soft composites as well as biomedicines. However, the preparation of highly stable LM nanodroplets suspension based on eutectic gallium/indium (EGaIn) alloys is still challenging. Herein, we report a general and robust strategy to fabricate EGaIn nanodroplets stabilized…
  • Atlas of Human Retinal Pigment Epithelium Organelles Significant for Clinical Imaging. [Journal Article]
    Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2020 Jul 01; 61(8):13.Pollreisz A, Neschi M, … Curcio CA
  • CONCLUSIONS: Among RPE signal sources for optical coherence tomography, LM and mitochondria are the most numerous reflective cell body organelles. These and our published data show that most melanosomes are in apical processes. Overlapping LM and previously mitochondria cushions may support multiple reflective bands in cell bodies. This atlas of subcellular reflectivity sources can inform development of advanced optical coherence tomography technologies.
  • Calpain activation and proteolysis in postmortem goose muscles. [Journal Article]
Anim Sci J. 2020 Jan; 91(1):e13423.Chang YS, Wu SY, … Chou RR
  • Meat tenderness is considered as the most important criterion for meat quality by consumers and can be improved by the actions of endogenous proteases, mainly calpains, during postmortem storage at 0-5°C. The purpose of this study, therefore, was to examine the postmortem calpain activation and proteolysis in breast (BM) and leg and thigh (LM) muscles of White Roman goose. BM and LM were taken fr…
  • Approach for Propagating Radiometric Data Uncertainties Through NASA Ocean Color Algorithms. [Journal Article]
Front Earth Sci (Lausanne). 2019 Jul 18; 7:176.McKinna LIW, Cetinić I, … Werdell PJ
  • Spectroradiometric satellite observations of the ocean are commonly referred to as "ocean color" remote sensing. NASA has continuously collected, processed, and distributed ocean color datasets since the launch of the Sea-viewing Wide-field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS) in 1997. While numerous ocean color algorithms have been developed in the past two decades that derive geophysical data products from…

  • Microbial enzymes are the safe alternatives to chemical based bleaching of pulp in paper mills. For effective biobleaching, both hemicellulolytic and lignolytic enzymes are required. This study reports laccase (L) + xylanase (X) and laccase (L) + mannanase (M) enzyme concoctions for pulp biobleaching derived from Bacillus sp. LX and Bacillus sp. LM isolated from the decaying organic matter. All e…
  • Th1 responses in vivo require cell-specific provision of OX40L dictated by environmental cues. [Journal Article]
    Nat Commun. 2020 Jul 09; 11(1):3421.Gajdasik DW, Gaspal F, … Withers DR
  • The OX40-OX40L pathway provides crucial co-stimulatory signals for CD4 T cell responses, however the precise cellular interactions critical for OX40L provision in vivo and when these occur, remains unclear. Here, we demonstrate that provision of OX40L by dendritic cells (DCs), but not T cells, B cells nor group 3 innate lymphoid cells (ILC3s), is critical specifically for the effector Th1 respons…
