- Atopic Dermatitis in Children: Differential Diagnosis and Mimickers. [Review]Children (Basel). 2026 May 18; 13(5).C
- Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, relapsing inflammatory dermatosis that is characterized by pruritus, xerosis, and age-dependent clinical heterogeneity. Accurately diagnosing AD remains challenging due to the absence of specific biomarkers and the broad spectrum of conditions that may mimic its presentation. A wide range of inflammatory, infectious, and genetic disorders resemble …

- Presentations of Cutaneous Disease in Various Skin Pigmentations: Tinea Corporis. [Journal Article]HCA Healthc J Med. 2026; 7(1):93-103.HH
- Background Tinea corporis is a common superficial fungal infection caused by dermatophytes. It typically presents as well-defined, pruritic, annular papules and plaques with central hypopigmentation. The differential diagnosis includes pityriasis rosea, nummular dermatitis, plaque psoriasis, tinea versicolor, granuloma annulare, and discoid lupus. This article compares different presentations of …

- Symmetrical Drug-Related Intertriginous and Flexural Exanthema (SDRIFE)-Like Presentation in a Case of Systemic Contact Dermatitis to Paraphenylenediamine (PPD). [Case Reports]
- Paraphenylenediamine (PPD) is an aromatic amine that was first manufactured in Germany by Hofmann in 1833. It is primarily employed for its antioxidant and staining properties and is found in rubber goods, printer ink, photographic supplies, textiles and footwear, henna tattoos, and hair dyes. As it is a prehapten that can cross the skin barrier easily, it can be detected in plasma, urine, and fa…

- Epidemiology of nummular eczema - methodological approaches and outcomes from nationwide claims data analyses. [Journal Article]J Dtsch Dermatol Ges. 2026 Jul; 24(7):886-893.JD
- CONCLUSIONS: Despite differences in methodological approaches leading to some variation, the prevalence of NE in the German population can be reasonably estimated at approximately 0.26%. Overlaps and miscoding may have occurred, particularly with other forms of eczema, underscoring the need for reliable diagnostics and standardized coding.

- [Autoimmunity in Patients with CTLA-4 Haploinsufficiency]. [Case Reports]Rev Alerg Mex. 2025 Sep 30; 72(3):89.RA
- CONCLUSIONS: The diagnosis of this pathology is difficult due to its wide clinical presentation. Impaired LT and LB function leads to severe autoimmune processes and progressive hypogammaglobulinemia, recurrent infections, and malignancies. Immunoglobulin, prophylactic antibiotics, immunosuppressants, and bone marrow transplantation are the mainstays of treatment. Recognizing this genetic defect allows for targeted treatment (abatacept) that will improve the quality of life and prognosis of patients.

- Atopic and Contact Dermatitis. [Review]
- Atopic dermatitis and contact dermatitis are among the most common dermatologic conditions encountered by the primary care clinician. Their presentation varies and can mimic infectious and other noninfectious conditions, making a thorough history essential, with particular emphasis on exposure to environmental and occupational irritants, as well as recognition of commonly affected sites. For all …

- Nummular Eczema as the Initial Extrahepatic Manifestation of Hepatitis C Virus Infection: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- Although dermatological manifestations are common in hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, nummular eczema is rarely reported in this context. We describe the case of a 73-year-old man with a seven-month history of pruritic lesions on the posterior thorax, unresponsive to symptomatic treatment. Physical and dermoscopic examination revealed well-demarcated, coin-shaped plaques with peripheral erythem…

- [Arthroderma onychocola plus Arthroderma quadrifidum on atopic eczema : An exceptional constellation that warrants interpretation]. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Obviously, A. onychocola is more prevalent than has been assumed up to now. Geophilic dermatophytes detected on atopic dermatitis are not necessarily pathogenetically relevant for eczema-such a colonization needs to be critically interpreted in relation to its clinical context. The determinants that allow geophilic dermatophytes to persist on human skin are still not understood.

- Recalcitrant Nummular Eczema in Childhood Responsive to Dupilumab Treatment. [Case Reports]
- Nummular eczema (NE) is a distinctive eczematous dermatitis characterized by an eruption of coin-shaped erythematous, edematous, vesicular, and crusted patches that tend to expand as papulovesicular satellite lesions appear at the periphery and fuse with the main plaque. This pruritic disorder classically affects the extensor aspect of the extremities, trunk, and buttocks. Patients generally repo…

- Warts, Hypogammaglobulinemia, Infections, and Myelokathexis (WHIM) syndrome is a rare immunodeficiency caused by gain-of-function mutations in the chemokine receptor CXCR4. While human papillomavirus (HPV) skin infection (warts) is the dermatological hallmark of the disease, individuals with WHIM have high rates of other skin manifestations that may aid early diagnosis and management.
