  • Robust H∞ Control for Nonlinear Hyperbolic PDE Systems Based on the Polynomial Fuzzy Model. [Journal Article]
IEEE Trans Cybern 2019Tsai SH, Wang JW, … Lam HK
  • This article addresses the H∞ stabilization problems for a class of nonlinear distributed parameter systems which is described by the first-order hyperbolic partial differential equations (PDEs). First, the first-order hyperbolic PDE systems are identified as a polynomial fuzzy PDE system and the polynomial fuzzy controller for the polynomial fuzzy PDE system is proposed. By utilizing the propose…
  • Age-related tooth wear in African rainforest hunter-gatherers. [Journal Article]
    Am J Phys Anthropol 2019Romero A, Ramirez-Rozzi FV, … Pérez-Pérez A
  • CONCLUSIONS: The low molar wear rates with age found in Baka Pygmies contrast with extensive wear rates in savanna-dwelling foragers, reflecting differences in thermal processing techniques affecting fracture toughness and grittiness of mechanically challenging foods. Our findings reveal that culture-specific dietary proclivities influence tooth wear among foraging behaviors with important implications in hominin dietary versatility and abrasive stress on chewing surfaces.
  • Sirtuins and SIRT6 in Carcinogenesis and in Diet. [Review]
    Int J Mol Sci 2019; 20(19)de Céu Teixeira M, Sanchez-Lopez E, … Souto EB
  • Sirtuins are a highly conserved family of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD)-dependent protein lysine modifying enzymes. They are key regulators for a wide variety of cellular and physiological processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, DNA damage and stress response, genome stability, cell survival, metabolism, energy homeostasis, organ development and aging. Aging is one of the…
  • Generation of TD50 values for carcinogenicity study data. [Journal Article]
Toxicol Res (Camb) 2019; 8(5):696-703Thresher A, Gosling JP, Williams R
  • Carcinogenic potency is a key factor in the understanding of chemical risk assessment. Measures of carcinogenic potency, for example TD50, are instrumental in the determination of metrics such as the threshold of toxicological concern (TTC), acceptable intake (AI) and permitted daily exposure (PDE), which in turn impact on human exposure. The Carcinogenic Potency Data Base (CPDB) has provided a s…
