  • Neonatal Antiepileptic Medication Treatment Patterns: A Decade of Change. [Journal Article]
Am J Perinatol 2019Le VT, Abdi HH, … Slaughter JL
  • CONCLUSIONS: Phenobarbital remains the most widely used neonatal seizure treatment. Levetiracetam is increasingly used as a second line therapy. Increasing levetiracetam use indicates a need for additional study to determine its effectiveness in reducing seizure burden and improving long-term outcomes.
  • Interaction of cyclosporine with phenobarbital in cats: a preliminary study. [Journal Article]
    J Vet Med Sci 2019Hoshino Y, Inden T, … Katayama M
  • Phenobarbital (PB) decreases the cyclosporine (CsA) blood level in humans. However, the interaction of PB with CsA has not been reported in cats. This study investigated the effects of multiple doses of PB on the pharmacokinetics of CsA in three healthy cats. The treatments included oral CsA 5 mg/kg alone and oral CsA 5 mg/kg plus PB 5 mg/kg for 4 weeks. Co-administration of PB with CsA resulted …
  • The Basis for Strain-Dependent Rat Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 1A7 (ALDH1A7) Gene Expression. [Journal Article]
    Mol Pharmacol 2019; 96(5):655-663Touloupi K, Küblbeck J, … Pappas P
  • Aldehyde hydrogenases (ALDHs) belong to a large gene family involved in oxidation of both endogenous and exogenous compounds in mammalian tissues. Among ALDHs, the rat ALDH1A7 gene displays a curious strain dependence in phenobarbital (PB)-induced hepatic expression: the responsive RR strains exhibit induction of both ALDH1A7 and CYP2B mRNAs and activities, whereas the nonresponsive rr strains sh…
  • Efficacy of perioperative anticonvulsant prophylaxis in seizure-naïve glioma patients: A meta-analysis. [Review]
    Clin Neurol Neurosurg 2019; 186:105529Wang X, Zheng X, … Chi X
  • The efficacy of perioperative seizure prophylaxis in seizure-naïve glioma patients is still controversial. Thus we conducted this meta-analysis to assess the effectiveness of perioperative prophylactic antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) on postoperative seizures in seizure-naïve glioma for the first time. We systematically searched PubMed, Embase, Weipu (VIP) and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure…
