  • Gut microbiota modulation with traditional Chinese medicine: a system biology-driven approach. [Review]
Pharmacol Res 2019; :104453Yue SJ, Wang WX, … Tang YP
  • With the development of system biology, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is drawing more and more attention nowadays. However, there are still many enigmas behind this ancient medical system because of the arcane theory and complex mechanism of actions. In recent decades, advancements in genome sequencing technologies, bioinformatics and culturomics have led to the groundbreaking characterizati…
  • Smartphone use in ophthalmology: what is their place in clinical practice? [Review]
Surv Ophthalmol 2019Hogarty DT, Hogarty JP, Hewitt AW
  • Smartphones are an increasingly common and rapidly developing tool in clinical practice. Numerous applications or 'apps' are available for use on smartphones that aim to help clinicians perform a variety of tasks at the point of care. • Trends in births and the birth sex ratio in the vicinity of the Mainz research reactor in Germany. [Journal Article]
    Early Hum Dev 2019; :104869Scherb H, Grech V
  • CONCLUSIONS: These findings add to the corpus of evidence that man-made radiation may have significant effects on total births and on M/F with a skew toward male births. While the authors are certain that suitable precautions were taken when the reactor in Mainz was handled, the findings imply that these may not have been sufficient. Perhaps even greater care and even more stringent precautions need to be employed when dealing with radioactive elements. It clearly behoves humanity to exercise extreme caution when handling, processing, and storing radioactive materials and waste.
  • An Extensible Positioning System for Locating Mobile Robots in Unfamiliar Environments. [Journal Article]
    Sensors (Basel) 2019; 19(18)Xu X, Liu X, … Yang B
  • In this paper, an extensible positioning system for mobile robots is proposed. The system includes a stereo camera module, inertial measurement unit (IMU) and an ultra-wideband (UWB) network which includes five anchors, one of which is with the unknown position. The anchors in the positioning system are without requirements of communication between UWB anchors and without requirements of clock sy…
