  • [Idiopathic pleuroparenehymal fibroelastosis: report of one case and review of literature]. [Case Reports]
Zhonghua Jie He He Hu Xi Za Zhi 2019; 42(11):852-857Ju Y, Xu XM, … Li YM
  • CONCLUSIONS: Pleuroparenehymal fibroelastosis is a rare disease. The imaging findings were dominated by both upper lobes. Lung biopsy might be necessary. PPFE is often misdiagnosed as pulmonary tuberculosis/obsolete pulmonary tuberculosis, asbestosis, connective tissues disease and Drug-induced pneumonitis. There was no consensus on the treatment.
  • [The occurrence of asbestos-related diseases among former employees of asbestos processing plants in Poland]. [Journal Article]
    Med Pr 2019; 70(6):723-731Świątkowska B
  • CONCLUSIONS: The increase in the percentage of people with a diagnosed occupational disease provides evidence for the worsening health status of the former workers as well as a good detection of asbestos-related diseases among employees exposed to asbestos dust in the past. The results of the analysis indicate the need for undertaking a discussion in Poland on the implementation of international criteria for the diagnosis of asbestosis. Med Pr. 2019;70(6):723-31.
  • The Wittenoom legacy. [Journal Article]
    Int J Epidemiol 2019Musk AWB, Reid A, … de Klerk N
  • The Wittenoom crocidolite (blue asbestos) mine and mill ceased operating in 1966. The impact of this industry on asbestos-related disease in Western Australia has been immense. Use of the employment records of the Australian Blue Asbestos Company and records of the Wittenoom township residents has permitted two cohorts of people with virtually exclusive exposure to crocidolite to be assembled and…
  • Protocol for identification of airborne asbestos fibres in the urban areas and spatio-temporal trend. [Journal Article]
    MethodsX 2019; 6:2237-2241Hajizadeh Y, Jafari N, … Abdolahnejad A
  • Asbestos is classified as a hazardous pollutants between the airborne particles that cause diseases such as lung fibrosis (asbestosis). This protocol describes an integrated method for determination of asbestos fibres concentration and its temporal-spatial trends in the air of urban areas. To do this, 60 samples were gathered from various areas of Yazd city with low, moderate and high traffic. Fo…
  • NOX4 modulates macrophage phenotype and mitochondrial biogenesis in asbestosis. [Journal Article]
    JCI Insight 2019; 4(16)He C, Larson-Casey JL, … Carter AB
  • Macrophage activation is implicated in the development of pulmonary fibrosis by generation of profibrotic molecules. Although NADPH oxidase 4 (NOX4) is known to contribute to pulmonary fibrosis, its effects on macrophage activation and mitochondrial redox signaling are unclear. Here, we show that NOX4 is crucial for lung macrophage profibrotic polarization and fibrotic repair after asbestos expos…
