  • Analysis of cholesterol in mouse brain by HPLC with UV detection. [Journal Article]
PLoS One 2020; 15(1):e0228170Paulazo MA, Sodero AO
  • We describe a sensitive high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)-based method for the determination of cholesterol in brain tissue. The method does not require the derivatization of the analyte and uses separation and quantification by reversed-phase HPLC coupled to UV detection. Lipids were methanol/chloroform extracted following the method of Bligh and Dyer, and separated using isopropanol…
  • Cascade kinetics in an enzyme-loaded aqueous two-phase system. [Journal Article]
    Langmuir 2020Pavlovic M, Plucinski A, … Schmidt BVKJ
  • Macromolecular crowding plays a critical role in the kinetics of enzymatic reactions. Dynamic compartmentalization of biological components in living cells due to liquid-liquid phase separation represents an important cell regulatory mech-anism that can increase enzyme concentration locally and influence the diffusion of substrates. In the present study, we probed partitioning of two enzymes (hor…
  • Blockade of BDNF Signaling Attenuates Chronic Visceral Hypersensitivity in an IBS-like Rat Model. [Journal Article]
    Eur J Pain 2020Fan F, Tang Y, … Lin C
  • CONCLUSIONS: NMS caused visceral hypersensitivity and increased synaptic activity by activating BDNF-TrkB-PKMζ signaling in the thoracolumbar spinal cord of adult rats. PKMζ was able to potentiate AMPA receptor (AMPAR)-mediated sEPSCs in NMS rats. ANA-12 attenuated visceral hypersensitivity and synaptic activity by blocking BDNF/TrkB signaling in NMS rats.ANA-12 attenuates visceral hypersensitivity via BDNF-TrkB-PKMζ signaling and reduces synaptic activity through AMPARs in NMS rats. This knowledge suggests that ANA-12 could represent an interesting novel therapeutic medicine for chronic visceral hypersensitivity.
