  • Nanoparticle Charge and Size Control Foliar Delivery Efficiency to Plant Cells and Organelles. [Journal Article]
ACS Nano. 2020 Jul 06 [Online ahead of print]Hu P, An J, … Giraldo JP
  • Fundamental and quantitative understanding of the interactions between nanoparticles and plant leaves is crucial for advancing the field of nano-enabled agriculture. Herein, we systematically investigated and modeled how zeta potential (-52.3 mV to +36.6 mV) and hydrodynamic size (1.7-18 nm) of hydrophilic nanoparticles influence delivery efficiency and pathways to specific leaf cells and organel…
  • Meet the Cerium(IV) Phosphate Sisters: CeIV(OH)PO4 and CeIV2O(PO4)2. [Journal Article]
Chemistry. 2020 Jun 30 [Online ahead of print]Kozlova TO, Mironov AV, … Ivanov V
  • Two novel cerium(IV) phosphates were obtained: cerium(IV) hydroxidophosphate, Ce(OH)PO4, and cerium(IV) oxidophosphate, Cе2O(PO4)2, which were shown to complement the classes of isostructural compounds M(OH)PO4 and R2O(PO4)2, where M = Th, U and R = Th, U, Np, Zr. Cе2O(PO4)2 oxidophosphate is formed by elimination of H2O from the crystal structure of Ce(OH)PO4 during its thermal decomposition. Th…
  • Low temperature CO oxidation by doped cerium oxide electrospun fibers. [Journal Article]
    Nano Converg. 2020 Jun 29; 7(1):22.Sim M, Wang B, Oh TS
  • We investigated CO oxidation behavior of doped cerium oxide fibers. Electrospinning technique was used to fabricate the inorganic fibers after burning off polymer component at 600 °C in air. Cu, Ni, Co, Mn, Fe, and La were doped at 10 and 30 mol% by dissolving metal salts into the polymeric electrospinning solution. 10 mol% Cu-doped ceria fiber showed excellent catalytic activity for low temperat…
  • Synthesis of silver-cerium titanate nanotubes and their surface properties and antibacterial applications. [Journal Article]
Mater Sci Eng C Mater Biol Appl. 2020 Oct; 115:111051.Sales DA, Marques TMF, … Viana BC
  • Nano-heterostructures of titanate nanotubes were synthesized and they revealed a complex structure with the formation of TiO2 (anatase), CeO2, Ag2O and metallic silver nanoparticles on the outer walls and intercalation of Ce4+ and Ag+ into the interlayer spaces of the nanotubes by microwave-assisted hydrothermal process and subjected to ion exchange reactions. To the best of our knowledge, this i…
  • The combined antibacterial and anticancer properties of nano Ce-containing Mg-phosphate ceramic. [Journal Article]
Life Sci. 2020 Jun 22 [Online ahead of print]Farag MM, Ahmed MM, … Shehab AM
  • The development of new bioresorbable ceramics substituted with therapeutic ions is an area of interest to scientists. This paper was mainly aimed to synthesize Ce-containing Mg-phosphate ceramic nanoparticles as a multifunctional material. Two ceramics based on Mg3 (PO4)2 and Ce0.2Mg2.8(PO4)2 formulas (denoted MP and MP-C, respectively) were synthesized. Ce was selected in this study due to excel…
  • Ultrafast Formation of Small Polarons and the Optical Gap in CeO2. [Journal Article]
    J Phys Chem Lett. 2020 Jul 02 [Online ahead of print]Pelli Cresi JS, Di Mario L, … O'Keeffe P
  • The ultrafast dynamics of excited states in cerium oxide are investigated to access the early moments of polaron formation, which can influence the photocatalytic functionality of the material. UV transient absorbance spectra of photoexcited CeO2 exhibit a bleaching of the band edge absorbance induced by the pump and a photoinduced absorbance feature assigned to Ce 4f → Ce 5d transitions. A blue …
  • Effects of high potassium iodate intake on iodine metabolism and antioxidant capacity in rats. [Journal Article]
    J Trace Elem Med Biol. 2020 Jun 17; 62:126575.Li X, Cao X, … Zhang Y
  • CONCLUSIONS: The body is able to reduce and utilize high doses of KIO3 ingested through the digestive tract. The metabolism of high KIO3in vivo is characterized by two absorption process of I- in serum and the thyroid blocking effect. Moreover, a single intake of high-dose KIO3 does not affect TAA in vivo. The results suggest that such excess IO3- may have be reduced in the digestive tract before I- enters the blood.
  • Alkali and Phosphorus Resistant Zeolite-like Catalysts for NOx Reduction by NH3. [Journal Article]
    Environ Sci Technol. 2020 Jun 23 [Online ahead of print]Yan L, Ji Y, … Zhang D
  • At present, the deactivation of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalysts caused by the co-existence of alkali metal and phosphorus (P) remains an urgent problem and lacks corresponding strategies against catalyst poisoning. Herein, a novel zeolite-like Ce-Si5Al2Ox catalyst derived from an ultrasmall nano-zeolite EMT precursor was synthesized without organic templates at ambient temperature. …
  • Potential Control of Oxygen Non-Stoichiometry in Cerium Oxide and Phase Transition Away from Equilibrium. [Journal Article]
    ACS Appl Mater Interfaces. 2020 Jul 02 [Online ahead of print]Dejoie C, Yu Y, … Liu Z
  • Cerium oxide (ceria, CeO2) is a technologically important material for energy conversion applications. Its activities strongly depend on redox states and oxygen vacancy concentration. Understanding the functionality of chemical active species and behavior of oxygen vacancy during operation, especially in high-temperature solid-state electrochemical cells, is the key to advance future material des…
  • Nanoceria distribution and effects are mouse-strain dependent. [Journal Article]
Nanotoxicology. 2020 Jun 18 [Online ahead of print]Yokel RA, Tseng MT, … Graham UM
  • Prior studies showed nanoparticle clearance was different in C57BL/6 versus BALB/c mice, strains prone to Th1 and Th2 immune responses, respectively. Objective: Assess nanoceria (cerium oxide, CeO2 nanoparticle) uptake time course and organ distribution, cellular and oxidative stress, and bioprocessing as a function of mouse strain. Methods: C57BL/6 and BALB/c female mice were i.p. injected with …
  • Detection of Hydroxyl Radicals Using Cerium Oxide/Graphene Oxide Composite on Prussian Blue. [Journal Article]
    Nanomaterials (Basel). 2020 Jun 09; 10(6)Duanghathaipornsuk S, Kanel S, … Kim DS
  • A composite sensor consisting of two separate inorganic layers of Prussian blue (PB) and the composite of cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeNPs) and graphene oxide (GO), is tested with •OH radicals. The signals from the interaction between the composite layers and •OH radicals are characterized using cyclic voltammetry (CV). The degradation of PB in the presence of H2O2 and •OH radicals is observed a…
