  • Two Cases of Hypopituitarism Caused by Intrasellar Aneurysm. [Journal Article]
    Intern Med 2019Kageyama K, Kinoshita N, … Daimon M
  • Giant internal carotid artery aneurysms sometimes extend into the sellar region, which rarely but occasionally results in hypopituitarism due to the compression of the normal pituitary gland or hypothalamus. Hyponatremia is a known complication of hypopituitarism. We herein report two cases of hypopituitarism caused by intrasellar aneurysm of different origins, resulting in hyponatremia. Untreate…
  • Serum SUR1 and TRPM4 in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage. [Journal Article]
    Neurosurg Rev 2019Dundar TT, Abdallah A, … Uysal O
  • Neuroinflammation plays an important role in neuronal injury after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). Sulfonylurea receptor 1 (SUR1) and transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily M member 4 (TRPM4) receptors play an important role in the pathogenesis of several neural injuries, such as neural edema, spinal cord damage, stroke, and neuronal damage in aSAH. This study aimed to i…

  • Evaluation of the necessity of whole-body scan tomography in cases with head trauma. [Journal Article]
    Ulus Travma Acil Cerrahi Derg 2019; 25(6):622-627Yasaran İ, Karakuş A, … Kekec Z
  • CONCLUSIONS: The number of studies evaluating WBCT is high in the literature. However, our study is important concerning that to our knowledge this study is the first study to evaluate the WBCT findings in the head trauma cases without the additional lesions on their bodies. WBCT scan should be recommended in patients whose clinical evaluation could not be completed. WBCT is an important diagnostic tool for the diagnosis of many pathologies, especially for intrathoracic lesions.
  • Suspected seizure-survival of a lethal dose of the rodenticide alpha-chloralose. [Journal Article]

  • A 58-year-old female was admitted due to a suspected seizure. A blue colored pharyngeal fluid was visualized during intubation, which is indicative of poisoning. Clinical research revealed an ingestion of 2.4 g of alpha-chloralose, a rodenticide with a lethal dose of 1 g. Immediate detoxification by gastroscopy, gastric lavage and hemodialysis led to full recovery. Substance detection was carried…
