  • Intracranial Arterial Dolichoectasia. [Review]
Front Neurol 2017; 8:344Del Brutto VJ, Ortiz JG, Biller J
  • An increased diameter (ectasis) and/or long and tortuous course (dolichosis) of at least one cerebral artery define intracranial arterial dolichoectasia (IADE). IADE could be detected incidentally or may give rise to an array of neurological complications including ischemic stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, or compression of surrounding neural structures. The basilar artery is preferentially affec…
  • Histopathological examination of both ipsilateral and contralateral testes with different obstructive models in prepubertal and adult rats. [Journal Article]
    BJU Int 2001; 88(1):84-9Altay B, Hekimgil M, … Cikili N
  • CONCLUSIONS: The testes are more susceptible to obstruction of the vas deferens in prepubertal than in adults rats, resulting in increased hydrostatic pressure and oedema of both the ipsilateral and contralateral testes, which might be caused by collateral circulation and rat testicular microcirculation, with a rhythmic pattern of arteriolar dilatation and constriction (vasomotion). Although the presence of oedema and high hydrostatic pressure was not prominent in adults, formation of spermatic granulomas and absence or sloughing of germ cells in the obstructed and contralateral testes reflect the early effects of vas ligation on spermatogenesis in adulthood.
  • Variation of infrarenal aortic diameter: A necropsy study. [Journal Article]
    J Vasc Surg 1999; 29(5):920-7da Silva ES, Rodrigues AJ, … Martins J
  • CONCLUSIONS: The infrarenal aortic diameter enlarges with aging, and this enlargement occurs earlier in men than in women. Those subjects who had a longer body length and advanced sclerosis on the aorta wall had larger aortic diameters. There was a high prevalence of infrarenal aneurysms (4.5%), with rupture found solely in aortas with diameters larger than 5.0 cm.
  • [Vesicourethral dysfunction of diabetic patients]. [Journal Article]
    Nihon Hinyokika Gakkai Zasshi 1991; 82(7):1074-83Kitami K
  • In order to evaluate vesicourethral dysfunction in diabetic patients, urodynamic studies, IVP and urinalysis were performed on 173 diabetic patients (male 78, female 95) and 17 nondiabetic control cases. In addition to the classical findings as increased volume at the first desire to void and decreased maximum vesical pressure, diabetic patients showed varieties of vesicourethral dysfunctions suc…
  • [Duplex Doppler ultrasound of internal jugular vein ectasia. Case report]. [Case Reports]
Zhonghua Yi Xue Za Zhi (Taipei) 1990; 46(3):190-3Lin MJ, Chou YH, … Chang T
  • A seven-year-old boy, who complained of painless swelling mass over the right neck on exertion, was diagnosed as right internal jugular vein ectasis by the duplex Doppler ultrasound. The caliber of the right internal jugular vein was prominently dilated when Valsalva maneuver was done, the duplex Doppler ultrasound showed an essentially flat wave from that indicated the swelling mass to be a veno…
  • [Coronary ectasis: another form of atherosclerosis]. [Review]
    Med Clin (Barc) 1989; 93(10):368-71Aparici M, Peteiro J, … Alegría E
  • In a review of 3,693 coronary angiographies carried out in our department for suspected coronary artery disease we evaluated the 69 patients (1.86%) in whom lesions of coronary ectasia were found. Most of them (n = 51) had associated stenotic lesions and only 18 patients had isolated ectasia. The most common localization of the 96 ectasia lesions found in these patients was the right coronary art…
