  • The important role played by chemokines influence the clinical outcome of Helicobacter pylori infection. [Review]
    Life Sci 2019; 231:116688Jafarzadeh A, Nemati M, Jafarzadeh S
  • The extended infection with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), one of the most frequent infectious agents in humans, may cause gastritis, peptic ulcers, gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma, and gastric cancer. During H. pylori infection, different kinds of inflammatory cells such as dendritic cells, macrophages, neutrophils, mast cells, eosinophils, T cells and B cells are acc…
  • Inflammatory patterns of antrochoanal polyps in the pediatric age group. [Journal Article]
    Allergy Asthma Clin Immunol 2019; 15:39Zheng H, Tang L, … Ni X
  • CONCLUSIONS: Nasal obstruction was the most common symptom in ACPs in children. Allergic condition may have a poor role in the pathogenesis of ACPs. IL-6 plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of neutrophilic inflammation in patients with ACPs and may provide a new treatment strategy for ACPs in children. Treg cell associated cytokine IL-10 was involved in the inflammatory pathophysiological process of ACPs and played a certain regulatory role.

  • The primary objective of the immune system is to determine and distinguish between “self” and “not-self.” In doing so, the immune system eliminates pathogenic agents before a serious disease can occur. Thus, a robust immune system plays a pivotal role in maintaining health.  An impaired immune response is connected with inherent immunodeficiencies or pharmaceutical agents (such as steroids, or ch…
  • Chemokine Receptor Redundancy and Specificity Are Context Dependent. [Journal Article]
    Immunity 2019; 50(2):378-389.e5Dyer DP, Medina-Ruiz L, … Graham GJ
  • Currently, we lack an understanding of the individual and combinatorial roles for chemokine receptors in the inflammatory process. We report studies on mice with a compound deletion of Ccr1, Ccr2, Ccr3, and Ccr5, which together control monocytic and eosinophilic recruitment to resting and inflamed sites. Analysis of resting tissues from these mice, and mice deficient in each individual receptor, …
  • Intestinal overexpression of IL-18 promotes eosinophils-mediated allergic disorders. [Journal Article]
    Immunology 2019; 157(2):110-121Verma AK, Kandikattu HK, … Mishra A
  • Baseline eosinophils reside in the gastrointestinal tract; however, in several allergic disorders, excessive eosinophils accumulate in the blood as well in the tissues. Recently, we showed in vitro that interleukin (IL)-18 matures and transforms IL-5-generated eosinophils into the pathogenic eosinophils that are detected in human allergic diseases. To examine the role of local induction of IL-18 …
