  • Chvostek sign. [Journal Article]
    Clin Case Rep 2019; 7(10):2011Rodrigues R, Teles L
  • Careful anamnesis can act as gasometry in services with few resources. In this clinical case, a detailed clinical history made it possible to suspect the presence of acute hypocalcemia, a biochemical anomaly after confirmed in gasometry. Acute hypocalcemia can be life threatening, necessitating urgent treatment. Sometimes it can be managed with oral ambulatory treatment.
  • Response of juvenile Lophiosilurus alexandri to osmotic and thermic shock. [Journal Article]
Fish Physiol Biochem 2019Mattioli CC, Takata R, … Luz RK
  • The objective of the present study was to evaluate the physiological responses of juvenile Lophiosilurus alexandri submitted to osmotic and thermic shock. Thirty juveniles were used for each test, of which 10 were not subjected to stress and remained in normal conditions (fresh water at 28.0 °C). The others were submitted to stress shock (saline water of 10.0 g of salt/L or water cooled to 18.0 °…
  • Dietary ractopamine supplementation of pregnant sows: what are the impacts on the neonate? [Journal Article]
Animal 2019; :1-9Martinez CHG, Ravagnani GM, … Andrade AFC
  • The use of additives such as ractopamine (Rac) in pregnant sows during early-mid pregnancy is an alternative to increase foetal and progeny growth and development. However, Rac supplementation in finishing pigs can lead to behavioural and physiological changes similar to the typical stress responses. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation with Rac in pr…
  • Concordance of the ions and GAP anion obtained by gasometry vs standard laboratory in critical care. [Journal Article]
    Med Intensiva 2018López A, García B, … Jaime G
  • CONCLUSIONS: Poor concordance was observed between the ion values as determined by biochemistry and blood gases; the two methods are therefore not interchangeable. Kappa agreement with normality limits was good for sodium and potassium, and weak for chlorine. Possible validity was noted in orienting the classification within the ion limits, with the exception of chlorine. No agreement was recorded in relation to the anion GAP, even that corrected for albumin.
  • Obesity-hypoventilation syndrome and associated factors. [Journal Article]
    Med Clin (Barc) 2018; 150(4):125-130Espínola Rodríguez A, Lores Obradors L, … Arellano Marcuello E
  • CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of OHS was lower than expected. Noteworthy was the high comorbidity of cardiovascular disease and the high frequency of respiratory symptoms associated with important alterations of pulse oximetry.
  • Deceleration area and fetal acidemia. [Journal Article]
    J Matern Fetal Neonatal Med 2017; 30(21):2578-2584Martí Gamboa S, Lapresta Moros M, … Castán Mateo S
  • CONCLUSIONS: Total deceleration area showed the greatest predictive ability for fetal acidemia and its measure could help to estimate intrapartum fetal acid-base status.
