  • •High-risk multi-agent drug resistant GTN is a life threatening disease.•Majority of choriocarcinomas show intense PD-L1 immunoreactivity.•Pembrolizumab increases antitumor activity.•Effectiveness of Pembrolizumab in treating patients with high-risk multi-agent drug resistant GTN.
  • Adenomyosis presenting as a molar pregnancy: A case report. [Case Reports]
Gynecol Oncol Rep. 2020 May; 32:100573.Bedrick BS, Kazarian GS, … Thaker PH
  • •We present a case of atypical adenomyosis with clinical, laboratory, and imaging findings suggestive of a molar pregnancy.•Adenomyosis causes uterine enlargement and may appear cystic on vaginal ultrasound.•Falsely elevated β-hCG in the setting of obesity and hypothyroidism may complicate diagnosing abnormal uterine bleeding.
  • StatPearls: Bleomycin [BOOK]
. StatPearls Publishing: Treasure Island (FL) Brandt Josiah P. JP University of Tennessee Health Science Center Gerriets Valerie V California Northstate University College of Medicine BOOK
  • Bleomycin belongs to a subfamily of glycopeptide antibiotics and is utilized primarily as an antineoplastic agent. Bleomycin is part of combination cytotoxic chemotherapy regimens, including ABVD (adriamycin, bleomycin, vinblastine, dacarbazine). It first received approval from the FDA in 1975 for the treatment of squamous cell carcinomas, malignant lymphomas, and testicular cancers. Bleomycin ha…
  • Pitfalls in the assessment of gestational transient thyrotoxicosis. [Journal Article]
Gynecol Endocrinol. 2020 Apr 17 [Online ahead of print]Iijima S
  • Gestational transient thyrotoxicosis (GTT) is associated with direct stimulation of the maternal thyroid gland by human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). It is characterized by slightly higher thyroid hormone and lower thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels in early pregnancy and mild or no symptoms. While GTT must be distinguished from Graves' disease (GD), which is associated with maternal and fe…
  • Placental site trophoblastic tumor: Successful treatment of 13 cases. [Case Reports]
Gynecol Oncol Rep. 2020 May; 32:100548.Alexander AL, Strohl AE, … Lurain JR
  • Placental site trophoblastic tumor (PSTT) is a rare variant of gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN) that is characterized by slow growth resulting in mostly uterine-confined disease, low human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) levels, and resistance to chemotherapy. Our objective was to update our center's experience with PSTT with respect to presentation, prognostic factors, treatment, and outco…
  • The potential of serum fetal DNA for early diagnosis of gestational trophoblastic disease. [Journal Article]
Turk J Obstet Gynecol. 2019 Dec; 16(4):249-254.Bademkıran MH, Balat Ö, … Cebesoy FB
  • CONCLUSIONS: Non-parametric analysis of covariance in terms of cfDNA in GTD was performed, thereby increasing its power and revealing a significant difference compared with the control group. This indicates that maternal peripheral bloodstream cfDNA monitoring might be significant in the early diagnosis of GTD.
  • [Epithelioid trophoblastic tumour with pulmonary metastasis]. [Case Reports]
    Rev Med Liege. 2020 Mar; 75(3):145-150.Berg J, Bonduelle Y, Golinval O
  • Epithelioid trophoblastic tumours are rare kind of gestational trophoblastic disease. Their detection is made by repetitive measurement of ?HCG after any gestational period (including spontaneous abortion). Epithelioid trophoblastic tumour can cause pulmonary metastasis. We describe the clinical case of a 44-year old woman with a cystic lesion of the right pulmonary apex following a miscarriage w…
  • StatPearls: Eclampsia [BOOK]
. StatPearls Publishing: Treasure Island (FL) Magley Mackenzie M Conemaugh Memorial Hospital Hinson Melissa R. MR Conemaugh Memorial BOOK
  • Eclampsia is a known complication of preeclampsia during pregnancy and is associated with morbidity and mortality of both the mother and fetus if not properly diagnosed. Preeclampsia and eclampsia are one of the four categories associated with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.[1] The other three categories include chronic hypertension, gestational hypertension, and preeclampsia superimposed on…
  • Insights into the hyperglycosylation of human chorionic gonadotropin revealed by glycomics analysis. [Journal Article]
    PLoS One. 2020; 15(2):e0228507.Ibeto L, Antonopoulos A, … Dell A
  • Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a glycoprotein hormone that is essential for the maintenance of pregnancy. Glycosylation of hCG is known to be essential for its biological activity. "Hyperglycosylated" variants secreted during early pregnancy have been proposed to be involved in initial implantation of the embryo and as a potential diagnostic marker for gestational diseases. However, what c…
  • Metastatic Brain Choriocarcinoma in a Postmenopausal Woman: A Case Report. [Journal Article]
    Am J Case Rep. 2020 Jan 27; 21:e917656.Dombrovsky I, Tilden HR, … Stowe RJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: Postmenopausal choriocarcinoma is rare and there are few case reports in the literature. It is a rare but possibly under-diagnosed metastatic disease in women. At present, a postmenopausal woman without a clear primary tumor should have a pregnancy test performed to rule out choriocarcinoma, as it is readily responsive to therapy.
  • Delivery of Euthyroid Baby following Hyperthyroidism in Twin Gestation with Coexisting Complete Hydatidiform Mole. [Case Reports]
    Case Rep Endocrinol. 2019; 2019:2941501.Raj R, Uy EM, … Asadipooya K
  • CONCLUSIONS: Twin pregnancy with gestational trophoblastic disease and coexisting normal fetus is associated with high risk of hyperthyroidism, and careful monitoring of the thyroid function test along with dose titration of thionamides is of utmost importance throughout the gestation. If normal thyroid hormone levels are maintained during the pregnancy, euthyroidism could be successfully achieved in the baby.
