  • Economic burden of maternal morbidity - A systematic review of cost-of-illness studies. [Journal Article]
    PLoS One 2020; 15(1):e0227377Moran PS, Wuytack F, … Daly D
  • CONCLUSIONS: Our findings indicate that maternal morbidity is associated with significant costs to health systems and society, but large gaps remain in the evidence base for the economic burden of some common health problems associated with pregnancy and childbirth. More research is needed to examine the economic burden of a range of common maternal health problems, and future research should adopt consistent methodological approaches to ensure comparability of results.
  • Structural and electronic properties of two-dimensional hydrogenated xenes. [Journal Article]
    J Phys Condens Matter 2020Rahman G, Mahmood A
  • Structural and electronic properties of pristine two-dimensional group IV Xenes (X=C, Si, Ge, Sn, Pb) and hydrogenated Xenes are studied, using density functional theory (DFT) calculations with and without spin-orbit coupling (SOC). The pristine hexagonal monolayer Xenes show buckled structure upon relaxation except graphene. The buckling $\delta$ increases linearly from graphene to plumbene. The…
  • Maintaining skin integrity in the aged: A systematic review. [Review]
    Int J Nurs Stud 2019; 103:103509Lichterfeld-Kottner A, El Genedy M, … Kottner J
  • CONCLUSIONS: Included studies showed substantial heterogeneity regarding design, interventions and outcomes. Basic skin care strategies including low-irritating cleansers and lipophilic humectant-containing leave-on products are helpful for treating dry skin and improving skin barrier in the aged. Lower pH of leave-on products improves the skin barrier. The number of different outcome domains was unexpectedly high. We recommend to identify critical outcome domains in the field of skin care to make trial results more comparable in the future and to measure possible performance differences between different skin care strategies and products.
  • Thinking beyond tradition: Polyphenols as effective refolding modulators. [Journal Article]
    Int J Biol Macromol 2020Dawn A, Deep S
  • Despite polyphenols having had proven roles as amyloid alleviators their service has rarely been made use of in protein refolding/renaturation thus far, where aggregation can be a major competing pathway. TGFβ3, expressed in inclusion bodies, is a classical example of a protein prone to high rate of aggregation severely limiting its refolding yield owing to its large cysteine content and structur…
