  • Cutaneous undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma is a pleomorphic dermal sarcoma. [Journal Article]
    Dermatol Online J. 2020 May 15; 26(5)Cohen PR
  • Pleomorphic dermal sarcoma is a cutaneous soft tissue sarcoma that presents as a rapidly enlarging tumor, typically on a sun-exposed location of elderly individuals. The neoplasm shares many similar features - clinical, pathologic, immunohistochemical and genomic - with atypical fibroxanthoma. However, adverse histologic characteristics (deep subcutaneous invasion, tumor necrosis, lymphovascular …
  • Minimizing Fertility-sparing Treatment for Low Volume Early Stage Cervical Cancer; Is Less the (R)Evolution? [Review]
    Anticancer Res. 2020 Jul; 40(7):3651-3658.Theofanakis C, Haidopoulos D, … Fotopoulou C
  • CONCLUSIONS: Standard fertility-sparing treatment for early-stage cervical cancer is still radical trachelectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy. However, studies suggest that the omission of parametrectomy is a feasible and safe option. Simple trachelectomy or cervical conization, both combined with pelvic lymphadenectomy are acceptable approaches in a selected group of patients with early-stage cervical cancer.
  • The utility of postoperative radiotherapy in intermediate-risk oral squamous cell carcinoma. [Journal Article]
    Int J Oral Maxillofac Surg. 2020 Jun 29 [Online ahead of print]Liu T, David M, … Chua B
  • The effectiveness of postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) in improving outcomes remains debatable for oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) patients with pathological intermediate-risk factors (IRFs) after surgery. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 432 intermediate-risk OSCC patients defined by histological reporting of close margin (<5mm), early nodal disease (pN1), depth of invasion/tumour t…
  • Comparison of non-schistosomal colorectal cancer and schistosomal colorectal cancer. [Journal Article]
    World J Surg Oncol. 2020 Jul 01; 18(1):149.Wang W, Lu K, … Zhu T
  • CONCLUSIONS: Schistosomiasis was significantly correlated with OS, and it was an independent prognostic factor for OS in the whole cohort. When patients were stratified according to clinical stage and lymph node metastasis state, schistosomiasis was still an independently unfavorable prognosis factor for OS in patients with stage III-IV tumors or patients with lymph node metastasis.
  • Assessing CD 10 Expression Level and Its Prognostic Impact in Egyptian Patients with Urothelial Carcinoma. [Journal Article]
Asian Pac J Cancer Prev. 2020 Jun 01; 21(6):1573-1583.Hussien MT, Helmy E, … Hetta HF
  • CONCLUSIONS: Increased expression of CD10 in the tumor and CAF was strongly correlated with tumor progression, invasion, metastasis, shorter OS, and RFS in urothelial carcinoma patients. CD10 mRNA showed significantly higher expression in tumor tissue than in matched normal tissue. CD10 mRNA was associated with depth of invasion, TNM stage, tumor grade, vascular tumor invasion, and tumor recurrence.
  • A 10-year review of primary major salivary gland cancers. [Journal Article]
    Ecancermedicalscience. 2020; 14:1055.Cruz A, Magalhães H, … Vieira C
  • Primary salivary gland cancers comprise a heterogeneous group of histological entities and represent less than 5% of head and neck malignancies. Surgical resection is the main treatment, and adjuvant radiotherapy is performed in selected cases. Chemotherapy is an option in metastatic or recurrent disease, with poor evidence. We aimed to review a 10-year experience of a cancer centre on major sali…
  • The presence of poorly differentiated clusters predicts survival in stage II colorectal cancer. [Journal Article]
    Virchows Arch. 2020 Jun 23 [Online ahead of print]Ammendola S, Turri G, … Barresi V
  • In stage II colorectal carcinoma (CRC), adjuvant chemotherapy is reserved to cases at high risk of adverse outcome. This study aims to investigate the prognostic value of tumor budding (TB) and poorly differentiated clusters (PDC) in this setting. In a cohort of 149 patients with surgically resected stage II CRC not undergoing neoadjuvant or adjuvant treatments, we assessed the prognostic value o…
