  • SPECT-CT for topographic mapping of sentinel lymph nodes prior to gamma probe-guided biopsy in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. [Journal Article]
    J Craniomaxillofac Surg 2004; 32(6):343-9Wagner A, Schicho K, … Leitha T
  • CONCLUSIONS: Composite functional/anatomical imaging (SPECT-CT) is feasible for sentinel lymph node detection. It enhances topographic orientation and diagnostic sensitivity with more sentinel nodes being detectable than by planar lymphoscintigraphy alone. Planar imaging should be accompanied by iterative reconstructed SPECT-CT to identify lymph nodes adjacent to the primary lesion. Such nodes are easily overlooked by planar lymphoscintigraphy and intraoperative gamma probes, as the high activity at the injection site can obscure their detection.
  • Simple mucodermal tracheoesophageal shunt method for voice restoration. [Journal Article]
    Arch Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg 1989; 115(4):494-6Saito H, Yoshida S, … Tsuda G
  • A newly devised simple primary tracheoesophageal shunt method, involving a mucodermal tunnel, was performed on 14 patients. Aspiration was prevented by percutaneous digital pressure on the shunt, with silicone or collagen injection around it, or the use of a voice prosthesis. The overall success rate was 79% (11/14). This method was an easy one-stage procedure that could be performed in about 15 …
  • Open-face custom tray for edentulous obturator impression. [Journal Article]
J Prosthet Dent 1981; 45(6):639-42Zaki HS, Aramany MA
  • 1. A new, easy, and predictable method of border molding an edentulous obturator impression is presented. 2. The use of an open-face impression tray facilitates proper extension in the site of the defect. 3. The manipulation of the modeling compound through the open-face tray assures proper seal, compression, and extension of the prosthesis above the mucodermal scar band. 4. The retention of the …
