  • Reliable ductal access in sialoendoscopy. [Journal Article]
Int J Oral Maxillofac Surg. 2020 Jun 30 [Online ahead of print]Wang R, Su YX
  • During sialoendoscopy, insertion of the endoscope through the ductal orifice is usually a challenging procedure, especially for beginners. Based on our experience, we have found that using the Kolenda Salivary Access Introducer Set is the most reliable and easily learned ductal access approach. We report details of the technique and discuss the advantages of this approach.
  • Morphological patterns of the palatal rugae: A review. [Review]
J Oral Biosci. 2020 Jun 30 [Online ahead of print]Chong JA, Fadzlin Syed Mohamed AM, Pau A
  • CONCLUSIONS: The diversity in rugae patterns and their potential for sex discrimination among different populations showed differing results due to individual variations and the complex influence of genetic, growth, and environmental factors on their morphology.
  • HNG, A Humanin Analogue, Promotes Hair Growth by Inhibiting Anagen-to-Catagen Transition. [Journal Article]
Int J Mol Sci. 2020 Jun 26; 21(12)Kim SM, Kang JI, … Kang HK
  • The hair follicle goes through repetitive cycles including anagen, catagen, and telogen. The interaction of dermal papilla cells (DPCs) and keratinocytes regulates the hair cycle and hair growth. Humanin was discovered in the surviving brain cells of patients with Alzheimer's disease. HNG, a humanin analogue, activates cell growth, proliferation, and cell cycle progression, and it protects cells …
  • Beyond the limits: identifying the high-frequency detectors in the anuran ear. [Journal Article]
Biol Lett. 2020 Jul; 16(7):20200343.Cobo-Cuan A, Grafe TU, Narins PM
  • Despite the predominance of low-frequency hearing in anuran amphibians, a few frog species have evolved high-frequency communication within certain environmental contexts. Huia cavitympanum is the most remarkable anuran with regard to upper frequency limits; it is the first frog species known to emit exclusively ultrasonic signals. Characteristics of the Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions f…
  • Effects of supplementary feeding on the rumen morphology and bacterial diversity in lambs. [Journal Article]
    PeerJ. 2020; 8:e9353.Lv F, Wang X, … Liu G
  • Early supplementary feeding of lambs before weaning is important to meet their nutritional needs, promote the development of rumen and improve performance. To study the effect of early supplementary feeding on rumen development and the microbiota of lambs, 22 Hu lambs were randomly divided into two groups: one group was fed with milk replacer (group C), and the other group was fed with milk repla…
  • [Histopathological and genetical diagnosis of one case of neonatal ectodermal dysplasia/skin fragility syndrome]. [Journal Article]
Zhonghua Shao Shang Za Zhi. 2020 Jun 20; 36(6):500-502.Ruan QF, Xia C, Xie WG
  • On August 6, 2015, a male infant with ectodermal dysplasia/skin fragility syndrome at 6 hours of birth was admitted to the Burn Department of Tongren Hospital of Wuhan University & Wuhan Third Hospital. The ulcerous skin tissue in thoracic area was harvested. The histopathological change of wound tissue was observed with hematoxylin-eosin staining. The result showed that the epidermal muscle cell…
  • Strategic consideration for effective chemotherapeutic transportation via transpapillary route in breast cancer. [Review]
    Int J Pharm. 2020 Jun 19; 586:119563.Patil A, Narvenker R, … Shende P
  • Breast cancer is the most commonly occurring cancer in women and the second most common cancer overall. The current treatment option for breast cancer includes drug treatment (Chemotherapy and hormone therapy) or surgery (mastectomy and lumpectomy). The major drawbacks of chemotherapy include rapid metabolism, limited ductal exposure, lower bioavailability, higher elimination rate, undesirable si…
  • An Unusual Histopathological Presentation of Epidermotropic Metastatic Pharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma. [Journal Article]
    Am J Dermatopathol. 2020 Jun 05 [Online ahead of print]Savari O, Shahabi A, … Somach S
  • Epidermotropic metastasis of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma is rare. We report a case of a 56-year-old white man with a history of oral squamous cell carcinoma who presented with multiple papules on the face, eyelid, and chest wall. The histopathologic examination of the skin lesions revealed nests of malignant cells with basaloid features and zones of cytoplasmic vacuolization predominant…
  • Effect of Flap Design for Enamel Matrix Derivative Application in Intraosseous Defects. [Journal Article]
    JDR Clin Trans Res. 2020 Jun 19 [Online ahead of print]Trombelli L, Simonelli A, … Farina R
  • CONCLUSIONS: In the treatment of periodontal intraosseous defects, 1) SFVs appear to optimize the regenerative outcomes of EMD; 2) substantial regenerative outcomes can be obtained with SFVs and conservative double flaps (i.e., PPVs and minimally invasive variants) when EMD is combined with a graft; and 3) residual probing depth was higher following PPVs for EMD and EMD + graft.
  • Analysis of lncRNAs Expression Profiles in Hair Follicle of Hu Sheep Lambskin. [Journal Article]
    Animals (Basel). 2020 Jun 15; 10(6)Lv X, Chen W, … Wang J
  • Lambskin of the Hu sheep exhibits high economic value due to its water-wave pattern. Wool curvature is the key factor of the pattern types and quality of lambskin, and it is formed by the interaction between dermal papilla cells and hair matrix cells in the hair follicle, which is regulated by various genes and signaling pathways. Herein, three full-sibling pairs of two-day-old healthy lambs (n =…
  • A Rare Presentation of Choledochoduodenal Fistula Due to Ovarian Cancer Metastasis. [Journal Article]
    J Investig Med High Impact Case Rep. 2020 Jan-Dec; 8:2324709620934680.Misra D, Mirza U, … Padala SA
  • Choledochoduodenal fistula (CDF) is an abnormal communication between the common bile duct and the duodenum. It accounts for about 5% to 25% of the total biliary fistulas and is usually due to a perforated duodenal ulcer, choledocholithiasis, and complications secondary to tuberculosis or could be iatrogenic. Primary intrabilliary tumors usually cause obstructive jaundice and rarely biliary metas…
  • Subacute transverse myelitis with optic symptoms in neuroborreliosis: a case report. [Journal Article]
    BMC Neurol. 2020 Jun 13; 20(1):244.Opielka M, Opielka W, … Starzynska A
  • CONCLUSIONS: Subacute transverse myelitis in the course of neuroborreliosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of patients with abnormal magnetic resonance scans of the spinal cord, lymphocytic pleocytosis, and intrathecal antibody production, especially in the tick-endemic areas, even if the tick bite was not reported. Infrequent accompanying symptoms such as papilloedema are diagnostically challenging and cannot be treated as clinching evidence.
  • Minimally invasive procedures for deficient interdental papillae: A review. [Review]
    J Esthet Restor Dent. 2020 Jun 09 [Online ahead of print]Zhang Y, Hong G, … Wu H
  • CONCLUSIONS: Minimally invasive procedures are promising ways to reconstruct deficient interdental papillae, and have the advantages of slight pain and rapid recovery. It should be noticed that some of the minimally invasive treatments still require further long-term observation to confirm their efficacy.Familiarity with etiology and classification of deficient interdental papillae can help clinicians to choose the appropriate minimally invasive approach as well as help with case collection to enhance esthetics status in patients with deficient interdental papillae.
