  • TGF‑β induces periodontal ligament stem cell senescence through increase of ROS production. [Journal Article]
    Mol Med Rep 2019Fan C, Ji Q, … Li Z
  • Periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) are vital for the regeneration of periodontal tissue. Transforming growth factor (TGF) β1, a potent stimulator of tissue regeneration, is extensive and abundant in the bone matrix. However, the effect of TGF‑β1 in periodontal differentiation remains to be elucidated. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of TGF‑β1 on human PDLSCs. PDLSCs were isol…
  • StatPearls: Cancer, Ameloblastoma [BOOK]
StatPearls Publishing: Treasure Island (FL) Palanisamy Jaishree C. JC McLaren Oakland Jenzer Andrew C. AC Womack Army Hospital BOOK
  • The word ameloblastoma derives from the early English word “amel,” meaning enamel and the Greek word “blastos,” meaning germ. They are rare, odontogenic tumors, thought to be composed of the epithelium of ectodermal origin, which means they are tumors arising from the cells around the tooth root, or in close approximation, derived from the ectoderm germ layer. Ameloblastomas represent about 1% of…
  • The response of periodontal cells to kaolinite. [Journal Article]
Clin Oral Investig 2019Müller AS, Janjić K, … Agis H
  • CONCLUSIONS: Overall, kaolinite can decrease cell viability dose-dependently while conditioned medium showed no toxic effect. No pronounced impact of kaolinite on VEGF, IL-6, and IL-8 production was observed. This study provided first insights into the impact of kaolinite on human periodontal cells thereby inferring to the basis for the evaluation of kaolinite as a carrier in regenerative dentistry.Kaolinite, a clay mineral, is successfully used in medicine due to its favorable properties. Also, applications in conservative dentistry are described. However, the response of oral cells to kaolinite is still unclear. Here, we assessed the impact of kaolinite on human periodontal cells.
  • T and B Cells in Periodontal Disease: New Functions in A Complex Scenario. [Review]
    Int J Mol Sci 2019; 20(16)Figueredo CM, Lira-Junior R, Love RM
  • Periodontal disease is characterised by a dense inflammatory infiltrate in the connective tissue. When the resolution is not achieved, the activation of T and B cells is crucial in controlling chronic inflammation through constitutive cytokine secretion and modulation of osteoclastogenesis. The present narrative review aims to overview the recent findings of the importance of T and B cell subsets…
  • Decellularized human periodontal ligament for periodontium regeneration. [Journal Article]
    PLoS One 2019; 14(8):e0221236Son H, Jeon M, … Song JS
  • Regenerating the periodontal ligament (PDL) is a crucial factor for periodontal tissue regeneration in the presence of traumatized and periodontally damaged teeth. Various methods have been applied for periodontal regeneration, including tissue substitutes, bioactive materials, and synthetic scaffolds. However, all of these treatments have had limited success in structural and functional periodon…
