  • The Untimely Popping Phial: Poppers as an Unusual Cause of Skin Corrosion of the Thigh. [Case Reports]
Case Rep Emerg Med. 2020; 2020:2058624.Moret F, Lindner G, Woitok BK
  • CONCLUSIONS: The present case shows severe skin defects after skin-contact with alkyl nitrates in a "poppers" user. Maculopathy and methemoglobinemia are prominent unwanted side effects of "poppers" use. However, our report demonstrates that attention should also be paid to potential harm for the skin.
  • [Immunodetection of bacteriophages by a piezoelectric resonator with lateral electric field]. [Journal Article]
Prikl Biokhim Mikrobiol. 2016 Jul-Aug; 52(4):435-42.Gulii OI, Zaitsev BD, … Ignatov OV
  • It has been demonstrated that electroacoustic analysis with polyclonal antibodies can be used for bacteriophage detection. The frequency dependences of the real and imaginary parts of electrical impedance of a resonator with a viral suspension with antibodies were shown to be essentially different from the dependences of a resonator with control viral suspension without antibodies. It was shown t…
  • Fatal injection of ranitidine: a case report. [Journal Article]
    J Med Case Rep. 2008 Jul 17; 2:232.Oliva A, Partemi S, … Pascali VL
  • CONCLUSIONS: Although the incidence of anaphylactic reactions related to ranitidine is low, caution needs to be exercised on administration of this drug. In addition, further study is needed to define strategies for the prevention of adverse drug reactions in hospitalized patients.
  • [The role of polyclonal anti-T-lymphocyte antibodies (ATG) in the kidney transplantation]. [Journal Article]
    Khirurgiia (Sofiia). 2004; 60(4-5):42-5.Nikolovski M, Kotsev Iu, … Panchev P
  • CONCLUSIONS: ATG is a mixture of monocomponent polyspecific antibodies, which, in spite of its side effects, has been applied successfully in transplantation for more than 30 years. In the course of many years anti-CD3 patent medicine OKT3 has been the only one monocomponent antibody for the treatment of an acute rejection of the graft for inductive therapy in transplanted patients.A chimerical (baziliksimab) and humanized (daklizumab) monocomponent antibodies of the alpha-chain of the receptor for IL-2 (CD25) are used for the prophylaxis of the episodes of acutely rejection of the transplanted kidney during the last 10 years. ATG does not consists of anti-CD25 antibodies. That is why the simultaneously application of ATG with baziliksimab or daklizumab is expected to have an additional effect with a complementary mechanism of efficacy.
  • Variability of master gutta-percha cones. [Journal Article]
    Aust Endod J. 2002 Apr; 28(1):38-43.Moule AJ, Kellaway R, … Atkins D
  • The common technique to hermetically fill prepared root canals involves the use of "standardised" gutta-percha cones that are selected to fit the apical portion of the prepared canal space. These gutta-percha cones are manufactured to conform to a standard size and taper which should correspond to the size and taper of standard root canal instruments. Clinical observation of commercially availabl…
  • [Use of a GnRH analogue (leuprorelin) in the therapy of endometriosis]. [Journal Article]
    Minerva Ginecol. 1997 Sep; 49(9):417-9.Grio R, Geranio R, … Piacentino R
  • CONCLUSIONS: The results obtained (complete resolution of disease in 610.2% of cases, partial remission in 30.6% of cases, transient improvement in 9.2% of cases owing to reduced patient compliance, percentage of pregnancies after treatment 12%), allow the authors to conclude that the use of a GnRH antagonist, like leuprorelin, owing to its efficacy and good tolerability, represents a valid alternative to oestroprogestogens and Danazol in the treatment of implants and the symptoms of endometriosis.
  • Rapid organism identification from Bactec NR blood culture media in a diagnostic microbiology laboratory. [Journal Article]
J Clin Pathol. 1994 Sep; 47(9):796-8.Claxton PM, Masterton RG
  • CONCLUSIONS: The performance of the staphylococcal latex agglutination method was unsatisfactory and it is not appropriate for use with the media studied. In view of the cross-reactions observed with the tests used to identify group C streptococci and pneumococci, positive findings must be interpreted with caution. In all other regards the protocol evaluated produced rapid, reliable, clinically useful information and, subject to local experience, is recommended to users of Bactec NR media.
  • [Therapy with arginine chlorohydrate in children with short constitutional stature]. [Journal Article]
    Minerva Pediatr. 1993 Jan-Feb; 45(1-2):61-5.Pittari AM, Becherucci P, … Seminara S
  • It is common knowledge that the administration by mouth of chlorhydrate arginine in children with BSC is followed by an increase of plasma levels of Growth Hormone and Insulin as well as an improvement of statural growth. In order to confirm or disprove this observation we have administrated chlorhydrate arginine for six months in children affected by BSC. We have treated 20 prepubertal children …
  • [Prophylactic and therapeutic use of ceftriaxone in cesarean section]. [Journal Article]
    Minerva Ginecol. 1992 Nov; 44(11):587-90.Giannone R, Poli M, Bernorio R
  • Authors did the antibiotic-prophylaxis with ceftriaxone in twenty cesarean sections (1 phial EV). Prophylaxis was sufficient in thirteen cases; on the other hand, in the remaining seven prophylaxis was followed by the three days therapy (1 phial EV). A good tolerance of the medicine was revealed in all cases. Moreover, it was tested a wide antimicrobial action with resolution of all the verified …
  • [Aerosol thymopentin in the prevention of relapse of chronic bronchitis]. [Journal Article]
    Arch Monaldi Mal Torace. 1992 Jan-Dec; 47(1-6):41-5.Chianese R, Bilancia RA, … Gramiccioni E
  • In this study the Authors have verified the efficacy of Thymopentin administered via aerosol in the prevention of recurrent catarrhal episodes in the patients affected by COPD during the winter season, compared to the previous winter. In October, 1 phial of Thymopentin was administered via aerosol to 15 patients affected by COPD, daily, for 10 consecutive days; all patients were evaluated at mont…
  • Spatial sensitivity measurements of a prompt gamma IVNAA facility. [Journal Article]
Australas Phys Eng Sci Med. 1991 Mar; 14(1):1-7.Borovnicar DJ, Stroud DB, … Thompson MN
  • A technique has been developed for measuring the spatial sensitivity of a prompt gamma in vivo neutron activation analysis facility as used for determining total body nitrogen (i.e. protein). A water filled perspex phantom was used to simulate a patient. Relative spatial sensitivity of the system was measured at various positions in the tank by observing the prompt gamma rays from thermal neutron…
