  • Engineered Perineural Vascular Plexus for Modeling Developmental Toxicity. [Journal Article]
Adv Healthc Mater. 2020 Jul 01 [Online ahead of print]Kaushik G, Gupta K, … Murphy WL
  • There is a vital need to develop in vitro models of the developing human brain to recapitulate the biological effects that toxic compounds have on the brain. To model perineural vascular plexus (PNVP) in vitro, which is a key stage in embryonic development, human embryonic stem cells (hESC)-derived endothelial cells (ECs), neural progenitor cells, and microglia (MG) with primary pericytes (PCs) i…
  • [The key points to comprehend the pelvic fascia]. [Journal Article]
Zhonghua Wai Ke Za Zhi. 2020 Jul 01; 58(7):545-550.Liu HL, Lin MB
  • Pelvic fascia is considered to be one controversial human anatomic structure. According to the characteristics of specialized surgery, colorectal surgeons, gynecologic surgeons and urologic surgeons respectively marked the pelvic fascia, but the naming is not unified. For some specific anatomic structures (such as pelvic plexus), different scholars have different descriptions of their positions. …
  • Single Stapled Parachute Technique (SSPT) for grade IV prolapsed haemorrhoids - Video Vignette. [Letter]
    Colorectal Dis. 2020 Jul 01 [Online ahead of print]Giarratano G, Shalaby M, … Sileri P
  • Prolapse represents one of the most common indications for hemorrhoidectomy. In 1998, Longo proposed the Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids (PPH) using a specially designed circular stapler. It aims to preserve the hemorrhoidal plexus by performing a circumferential mucosectomy restoring it to its original anatomical position.
  • Disrupted local innervation results in less VIP expression in CF mice tissues. [Journal Article]
    J Cyst Fibros. 2020 Jun 26 [Online ahead of print]Semaniakou A, Brothers S, … Chappe V
  • Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) is the major physiological agonist of the Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane conductance Regulator (CFTR) chloride channel activity. VIP functions as a neuromodulator and neurotransmitter secreted by neurons innervating all exocrine glands. VIP is also a potent vasodilator and bronchodilator that regulates exocrine gland secretions, contributing to local innate defe…
  • Diffuse Neuritis Ossificans of the Brachial Plexus: Case report and review of the literature. [Case Reports]
World Neurosurg. 2020 Jun 26 [Online ahead of print]Murthy NK, Fritchie KJ, … Spinner RJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: We present the only case of diffuse, brachial plexus neuritis ossificans. Given the challenges of surgical resection in this region, we believe medical management for complex brachial plexus lesions should be considered first, unless the sequela of the disease is sufficiently prolonged or there is concern for permanent neurovascular compromise.
  • Functional segregation within the pelvic nerve of male rats: a meso- and microscopic analysis. [Journal Article]
J Anat. 2020 Jun 29 [Online ahead of print]Bertrand MM, Korajkic N, … Keast JR
  • The pelvic splanchnic nerves are essential for pelvic organ function and have been proposed as targets for neuromodulation. We have focused on the rodent homologue of these nerves, the pelvic nerves. Our goal was to define within the pelvic nerve the projections of organ-specific sensory axons labelled by microinjection of neural tracer (cholera toxin, subunit B) into the bladder, urethra or rect…
