  • Dynamic conjugate F-SHARP microscopy. [Journal Article]
Light Sci Appl. 2020; 9:110.Papadopoulos IN, Jouhanneau JS, … Judkewitz B
  • Optical microscopy is an indispensable tool in biomedical sciences, but its reach in deep tissues is limited due to aberrations and scattering. This problem can be overcome by wavefront-shaping techniques, albeit at limited fields of view (FOVs). Inspired by astronomical imaging, conjugate wavefront shaping can lead to an increased field of view in microscopy, but this correction is limited to a …
  • Use of Platelet-Rich Fibrin in the Treatment of Grade 2 Furcation Defects: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. [Review]
    J Clin Med. 2020 Jul 03; 9(7)Tarallo F, Mancini L, … Marchetti E
  • In periodontitis patients, furcation defects are crucial sites to regenerate due to their complex anatomy. Various modern surgical techniques and use of biomaterials have been suggested in the literature. Among all, platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) has potential in tissue regeneration thanks to its role in the release of growth factors. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the beneficia…
  • Outcome of Root Canal Treatments Provided by Endodontic Postgraduate Students. A Retrospective Study. [Journal Article]
    J Clin Med. 2020 Jun 25; 9(6)Llena C, Nicolescu T, … Forner L
  • The aim of this study was to assess the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative factors that influenced complete periapical healing in teeth that underwent primary root canal treatment (RCT), in patients treated by postgraduate students in endodontics. Factors were retrieved and compared with the periapical status during the follow-up visit. Healing was considered as the absence of clinic…
  • Interfaces and Interphases in All-Solid-State Batteries with Inorganic Solid Electrolytes. [Journal Article]
Chem Rev. 2020 Jun 30 [Online ahead of print]Banerjee A, Wang X, … Meng YS
  • All-solid-state batteries (ASSBs) have attracted enormous attention as one of the critical future technologies for safe and high energy batteries. With the emergence of several highly conductive solid electrolytes in recent years, the bottleneck is no longer Li-ion diffusion within the electrolyte. Instead, many ASSBs are limited by their low Coulombic efficiency, poor power performance, and shor…
  • Educator, Judge, Public Defender: Conflicting roles for remediators of practicing physicians. [Journal Article]
    Med Educ. 2020 Jun 27 [Online ahead of print]Bourgeois-Law G, Regehr G, … Varpio L
  • CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that the duality of remediation as both education and regulation may be contributing to the challenges faced by those working one-on-one with remediatees. Understanding the dual nature of remediation and equipping remediators with the tools to manage this duality might contribute to improving the experience for both remediators and remediatees, and ultimately to a greater number of successful remediation outcomes.
  • Treg and TH17 link to immune response in individuals with peri-implantitis: a preliminary report. [Journal Article]
Clin Oral Investig. 2020 Jun 27 [Online ahead of print]Giro G, Tebar A, … Shibli JA
  • CONCLUSIONS: The present study demonstrated the possible existence of a hybrid TH17-Treg profile, based on the gene expression of transcription factors inducing differentiation of these cells. Further studies must be designed to gain a better understanding of the immunological mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of peri-implantitis.The levels of RORγT and FOXP3 transcription factors that were linked to cells with the FOXP3+RORγT+ phenotype could be used as a predictor of peri-implantitis progression.
  • Use of platelet-rich fibrin for the treatment of gingival recessions: a systematic review and meta-analysis. [Review]
Clin Oral Investig. 2020 Jun 26 [Online ahead of print]Miron RJ, Moraschini V, … Sculean A
  • CONCLUSIONS: The use of CAF/PRF improved rRC and CAL compared with the use of CAF alone. While similar outcomes were observed between CAF/PRF and CAF/CTG for CAL and PD change, the latter group led to statistically significantly better outcomes in terms of rRC and KTW. In summary, the use of PRF in conjunction with CAF may represent a valid treatment modality for gingival recessions exhibiting adequate baseline KMW.The data indicate that the use of PRF in conjunction with CAF statistically significantly improves rRC when compared with CAF alone but did not improve KMW. Therefore, in cases with limited baseline KMW, the use of CTG may be preferred over PRF.
  • Periodontal condition and periodontal risk assessment in adult patients with cystic fibrosis. [Journal Article]
    Ann Agric Environ Med. 2020 Jun 19; 27(2):235-239.Pawlaczyk-Kamieńska T, Borysewicz-Lewicka M, Śniatała R
  • CONCLUSIONS: The poor oral hygiene in CF patients indicates the need to develop standards of dental care for this group aimed at education and elimination of risk factors for oral diseases. The obtained results of clinical trials do not rule out the likelihood of auto-infections of the respiratory system originating from periodontal tissues, which, in CF patients, may adversely affect the general state of health and conducted therapy.
