  • Progestogens in luteal support. [Review]
Horm Mol Biol Clin Investig. 2020 May 20 [Online ahead of print]Carp HJA
  • Progestational agents are often prescribed to increase the clinical pregnancy rate in assisted reproduction. Progestogens affect implantation, cytokine balance, natural killer cell activity, arachidonic acid release and myometrial contractility. Progesterone production from the corpus luteum is essential for reproduction, but assisted reproductive technologies (ART) can impair luteal function. AR…
  • Endometriosis in pregnancy. [Review]
    Abdom Radiol (NY). 2020 Jun; 45(6):1741-1753.Navarro R, Poder L, … Jha P
  • Endometriosis constitutes the presence of ectopic endometrial glands and stroma outside the uterine endometrium, which is hormonally responsive and responds to pregnancy hormones as well. Decidualization is a physiologic process, where the normal endometrium readies itself for optimal accommodation of a pregnancy. A similar hormonal response can be seen with ectopic endometrium as well. As such, …
  • Impact of the corpus luteum on survival of the developing embryo and early pregnancy in mares. [Journal Article]
    Theriogenology. 2020 Jul 01; 150:374-381.Pinto CRF
  • It has been more than a hundred years that studies aiming to elucidate the processes involved in cyclicity and pregnancy pointed out the requirement of ovaries and corpora lutea for embryo survival and pregnancy establishment. For horses, luteal progesterone is essential for pregnancy only during the first trimester. This progestational support is complex among domestic animals as ovarian luteal …
  • Development of A 3D Tissue Slice Culture Model for the Study of Human Endometrial Repair and Regeneration. [Journal Article]
    Biomolecules. 2020 Jan 14; 10(1)Muruganandan S, Fan X, … Nayak NR
  • The human endometrium undergoes sequential phases of shedding of the upper functionalis zone during menstruation, followed by regeneration of the functionalis zone from the remaining basalis zone cells, and secretory differentiation under the influence of the ovarian steroid hormones estradiol (E2) and progesterone (P4). This massive tissue regeneration after menstruation is believed to arise fro…
  • New insights into progesterone receptor signaling in the endometrium required for embryo implantation. [Review]
J Mol Endocrinol. 2019 Dec 01 [Online ahead of print]DeMayo FJ, Lydon J
  • Progesterone's ability to maintain pregnancy in eutherian mammals highlighted this steroid as the "hormone of pregnancy". It was the unique "pro-gestational" bioactivity of progesterone that enabled eventual purification of this ovarian steroid to crystalline form by Willard Myron Allen in the early 1930s. While a functional connection between normal progesterone responses ("progestational prolif…
  • [Solitary Fibrous Tumours/Hemangiopericytomas of the Maters(Meninx):A Clinicopathologic Analysis]. [Journal Article]
Zhongguo Yi Xue Ke Xue Yuan Xue Bao. 2019 Aug 30; 41(4):512-516.Zhu R, Pang JY, … Huo Z
  • To study the clinicopathologic characteristics, immunohistochemical features, differential diagnosis, and prognosis of solitary fibrous tumours(SFT)/hemangiopericytomas(HPC)in the maters(meninx). Methods A series of 7 cases previously diagnosed as SFT/HPC at the Department of Pathology,Peking Union Medical College Hospital, during the period from 2008 to 2018 were analyzed for clinical data, histopath…
  • Maternal and Fetal Outcomes in Iranian Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: A Five-Year Retrospective Study of 60 Pregnancies. [Journal Article]
    Curr Rheumatol Rev. 2019; 15(4):321-328.Karimzadeh P, Shenavandeh S, Asadi N
  • CONCLUSIONS: Pregnancies in most women with pre-existing SLE can now be managed with successful results although presence of previous lupus nephritis is still a major risk factor for adverse maternal outcomes. In our study, fetal outcome was not different between patients with lupus nephritis compared with the patients without nephritis who were under treatments. Hence, to achieve favorable long-term results, we recommend regular multispecialty treatment approaches and progestational counseling for women with SLE.
  • [Menopausal therapy: Modern view of the problem.] [Journal Article]
    Adv Gerontol. 2019; 32(5):732-736.Selickova MS
  • The steady tendency of modernity improve the average life expectancy of a man dictates the necessity of implementing the anti-aging stratege, one of the stratege for women is menopausal therapy. Currently, the protective effect of menopausal therapy for cardiovascular system has been proven up to 60 years after it's implication in treatment. MHT is rarely used in Russia, largely due to the hormon…
  • Two Hormones for One Receptor: Evolution, Biochemistry, Actions, and Pathophysiology of LH and hCG. [Journal Article]
    Endocr Rev. 2018 10 01; 39(5):549-592.Casarini L, Santi D, … Simoni M
  • LH and chorionic gonadotropin (CG) are glycoproteins fundamental to sexual development and reproduction. Because they act on the same receptor (LHCGR), the general consensus has been that LH and human CG (hCG) are equivalent. However, separate evolution of LHβ and hCGβ subunits occurred in primates, resulting in two molecules sharing ~85% identity and regulating different physiological events. Pi…
  • Progestogens and pregnancy loss. [Review]
    Climacteric. 2018 08; 21(4):380-384.Carp HJA
  • Progestational agents are often prescribed to prevent pregnancy loss. Progestogens affect implantation, cytokine balance, natural killer cell activity, arachidonic acid release and myometrial contractility. Progestogens have therefore been used at all stages of pregnancy including luteal-phase support prior to pregnancy, threatened miscarriage, recurrent miscarriage, and to prevent preterm labor.…
  • Cancer Cachexia: Cause, Diagnosis, and Treatment. [Review]
Nutr Clin Pract. 2017 Oct; 32(5):599-606.Mattox TW
  • Patients with cancer frequently experience unintended weight loss due to gastrointestinal (GI) dysfunction caused by the malignancy or treatment of the malignancy. However, others may present with weight loss related to other symptoms not clearly associated with identifiable GI dysfunction such as anorexia and early satiety. Cancer cachexia (CC) is a multifactorial syndrome that is generally char…
  • Engineering of CYP106A2 for steroid 9α- and 6β-hydroxylation. [Journal Article]
    Steroids. 2017 04; 120:41-48.Nikolaus J, Nguyen KT, … Bernhardt R
  • CYP 106A2 from Bacillus megaterium ATCC 13368 has been described as a 15β-hydroxylase showing also minor 11α-, 9α- and 6β-hydroxylase activity for progesterone conversion. Previously, mutant proteins with a changed selectivity towards 11α-OH-progesterone have already been produced. The challenge of this work was to create mutant proteins with a higher regioselectivity towards hydroxylation at pos…
