  • The Quality of Life of Thalassemic Patients: The Role of Endocrine Defect Compensation. [Journal Article]
Endocr Metab Immune Disord Drug Targets. 2021 Apr 21 [Online ahead of print]Mattia L, Samperi I, … Poggi M
  • CONCLUSIONS: Limited data is available on QOL in thalassaemic patients, and even less related to endocrinopathies. We can speculate that endocrinopathies have an impact on everyday life. More studies are needed to allow our patients to achieve not just a longer life but also a better quality of life.

  • Selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors for premature ejaculation in adult men. [Meta-Analysis]
    Cochrane Database Syst Rev. 2021 03 21; 3:CD012799.Sathianathen NJ, Hwang EC, … Dahm P
  • CONCLUSIONS: SSRI treatment for PE appears to substantially improve a number of outcomes of direct patient importance such as symptom improvement, satisfaction with intercourse and perceived control over ejaculation when compared to placebo. Undesirable effects are a small increase in treatment withdrawals due to adverse events as well as substantially increased adverse event rates. Issues affecting the certainty of evidence of outcomes were study limitations and imprecision.

    Br J Surg. 2021 03 12; 108(2):128-137.Fleming CA, Cullinane C, … Peirce CB

As robotic rectal cancer surgery may offer more favourable functional outcomes it should be considered and discussed with patients.
  • Sexual dysfunction in men and women with diabetes: a mirror of their complications? [Journal Article]
    Curr Diabetes Rev. 2021 03 08 [Online ahead of print]Sansone A, Mollaioli D, … Jannini EA
  • CONCLUSIONS: Sexual dysfunctions often occur in men and women with diabetes. Investigating micro- and macro-vascular complications might not be enough to prevent the development or worsening of any sexual dysfunction; endocrine and psychological assessment are therefore needed to provide the best chances for adequate treatment.
  • Is Cycling Practice Related to Men's Pelvic Floor Dysfunctions? A Hypothesis-Generating Observational Study. [Journal Article]
    Int J Environ Res Public Health. 2021 02 17; 18(4)Molina-Torres G, Ochandorena-Acha M, … Minobes-Molina E
  • CONCLUSIONS: The results have shown that there is a slight correlation between the years of cycling and the presence of lower urinary tract symptoms, independently of the man's age. Therefore, the results display that high-intensity cycling practice might impact negatively in some men's pelvic floor functions. Further research is needed to analyse the impact of cycling on urogenital problems in this population group.
