  • Super pulses of orbital angular momentum in fractional-order spiroid vortex beams. [Journal Article]
Opt Lett 2018; 43(1):74-77Volyar AV, Egorov YA
  • We consider optical properties of hypergeometric-Gaussian beam compositions with spiral-like intensity and phase distributions called spiroid beams. Their orbital angular momentum as a function of a fractional-order topological charge has a chain of super-pulses (bursts and dips). The form of the super-pulses can be controlled by the spiral parameters. Such a phenomenon can be used in optical swi…
  • Treating Refractory Hypertension: Renal Denervation With High-Resolution 3D-Angiography. [Case Reports]
    Res Cardiovasc Med 2013; 2(2):106-8Alegria-Barrero E, Teijeiro R, … Martin MA
  • A 53-year-old male was referred to our Department for refractory primary hypertension. Despite high doses of 6 anti-hypertensive drugs, ambulatory monitoring of blood pressure (BP) revealed a mean BP of 160/90 mmHg. Under local anaesthesia, renal denervation with radiofrequency was performed supported by high-resolution 3D angiography, which helped confirm the position of the applications in a sp…
  • A self-feeding roller bottle for continuous cell culture. [Journal Article]
    Biotechnol Prog 2008 Jan-Feb; 24(1):154-7Berson RE, Friederichs G
  • The concept of a self-feeding roller bottle that delivers a continuous supply of fresh media to cells in culture, which is mechanically simplistic and works with existing roller apparatuses, is presented here. A conventional roller bottle is partitioned into two chambers; one chamber contains the fresh culture media reservoir, and the other contains the cell culture chamber. A spiroid of tubing i…
  • [Femoral shaft fractures in the elderly treated by intramedullary nailing]. [Journal Article]
    Rev Chir Orthop Reparatrice Appar Mot 2002; 88(1):41-50Bonnevialle P, Laques D, … Mansat M
  • CONCLUSIONS: The general and functional prognosis of femoral shaft fractures in the elderly is the same as for proximal fractures. These diaphyseal fractures can be individualized due to their characteristic mechanical and anatomic features: composite fracture with a rotation element involving the distal portion of the trochanter and the proximal quarter of the diaphysis. Several types of ostheosynthesis have been proposed for fixation. Locked intramedullary nailing has been found to be effective despite the difficulty in reduction, especially for particularly proximal fractures. There is a risk of iterative fracture in the transition zones between the femoral component and the osteoporotic bone.
  • Cochlea: forms and philosophy. [Journal Article]
    Acta Otorhinolaryngol Belg 1998; 52(4):271-4Mauroy R
  • The relationship between the general form of the cochlea and its function is difficult to study. The logarithmic nature of the spiroid can be deduced from embryologic data and the development of the cochlea around a nervous system. The propagation of sound has been studied through linear models. Experiments in fluid mechanics show that the parameters of viscosity and surface tension can modify th…
