  • Duane retraction syndrome in a patient with abnormal head position. [Case Reports]
    Turk Pediatri Ars 2019; 54(3):196-199Gökçe Ş, Albayram ZB, … Aydoğdu S
  • Duane's syndrome is a rare retraction anomaly characterized by an innervation defect in the lateral rectus muscle, limitation of abduction and adduction due to the result of abnormal innervation of the horizontal rectus muscles, changes in the eyelid fissures, and abnormal vertical eye movements. The affected eye is displaced up and/or down in adduction. This syndrome, also known as Stilling-Turk…
  • Response Properties of Cells Within the Rostral Superior Colliculus of Strabismic Monkeys. [Journal Article]
Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci 2019; 60(13):4292-4302Upadhyaya S, Das VE
  • CONCLUSIONS: Certain cells in the rSC show responses related to eye misalignment suggesting that the SC is part of a vergence circuit that plays a role in setting strabismus angle. An alternative interpretation is that these cells display ocular preference, also a novel finding, and could potentially act as a driver of downstream oculomotor structures that maintain the state of strabismus.
  • Anatomic Factors Predicting Postoperative Strabismus in Orbital Wall Fracture Repair. [Journal Article]
Sci Rep 2019; 9(1):14785Hsu CK, Hsieh MW, … Chien KH
  • This study is aimed to determine the relationship between orbital fracture sites in each CT scan view and postoperative diplopia. Data for 141 patients of orbital wall fracture were analyzed retrospectively. One group of examiners reviewed sagittal, coronal and axial CT scans. Descriptive statistical analysis was used to assess each fracture area and its potential relationship with the occurrence…
  • Nasal loop myopexy as a primary procedure to correct exotropia hypotropia complex in high myopia. [Journal Article]
Strabismus 2019; :1-7Ganesh SC, Jayadev NA, … Rao SG
  • CONCLUSIONS: The combination of recession and resection procedures with nasal loop myopexy was found to be effective in correcting the ocular deviation and limitation to elevation in abduction by correcting the deflected course of superior rectus and medial rectus to result in an effective improvement of elevation in abduction. One case had an overcorrection of exotropia. There were no other major complications.
