  • CONCLUSIONS: Insertion of fully covered SEMSs is an alternative tool for the treatment of esophageal leakage in children and preterm infants, and successful with only one single application in selected cases. It can be used either following previous therapy or as part of an emergency procedure. Because of the absence of manufactured, age-related devices SEMSs that are originally designed for other organs can be applied.

  • CONCLUSIONS:  The limited availability of validated screening instruments for BDD in plastic surgery is markedly in contrast to the supposedly high prevalence of the disease of 2.4 %. Among the currently used screening tools, the BDDQ-DV and the DCQ appear to be most suitable. Further research efforts are needed to establish better screening methods for the BDD in the plastic surgical patient population and to examine the effects of BDD on treatment results.

  • CONCLUSIONS:  Respondent data show that microsurgery fellows are satisfied with training, clinical experience is variable but adequate, educational experiences and opportunities vary from program to program, simulation skills training are perceived to be underutilized, and a program-organized microsurgery curriculum is believed to be advantageous to optimize development of technical and clinical skills.
