  • Acute bacterial skin and soft tissue infections: new drugs in ID armamentarium. [Journal Article]
    J Community Hosp Intern Med Perspect 2019; 9(4):310-313Tirupathi R, Areti S, … Jonnalagadda N
  • Acute bacterial skin and soft tissue infections (SSTI) are among the most common reasons for hospitalization of adults in the USA today. Cellulitis or SSTI can cause significant morbidity and mortality. The 2014 IDSA guideline update for the management of skin and soft tissue infections classified skin infections as purulent cellulitis (causative pathogen - Staphylococcus aureus including MRSA) a…
  • Novel Antibiotics for Multidrug-Resistant Gram-Positive Microorganisms. [Review]
    Microorganisms 2019; 7(8)Koulenti D, Xu E, … Tsiodras S
  • Increasing multidrug-resistance to Gram-positive pathogens, particularly to staphylococci, enterococci and streptococci, is a major problem, resulting in significant morbidity, mortality and healthcare costs. In recent years, only a small number of novel antibiotics effective against Gram-positive bacteria has been approved. This review will discuss the current evidence for novel branded antibiot…
  • Tedizolid phosphate for the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin-structure infections: an evidence-based review of its place in therapy. [Journal Article]
    Core Evid 2019; 14:31-40Bassetti M, Castaldo N, … Giacobbe DR
  • CONCLUSIONS: Tedizolid offers the option of an intravenous to oral switch, allows once-daily administration, and presents lower risk of myelotoxicity when a 6-day course is used for the treatment of ABSSSI. Greater economic cost associated with this antibiotic could be offset by its shorter treatment duration and possibility of oral administration in routine clinical practice, although either sponsored or nonsponsored postmarketing observational experience remains essential for ultimately confirming the effectiveness and tolerability of tedizolid outside clinical trials.
  • Comparative pharmacokinetics of tedizolid in rat plasma and cerebrospinal fluid. [Journal Article]
    Regul Toxicol Pharmacol 2019; 107:104420Gu L, Ma M, … Chen S
  • To investigate the possibility of tedizolid phosphate's application in the treatment of intracranial infection, a preclinical comparative pharmacokinetic study was designed. Based on the assumption that the classic efflux transporters P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP) may participate in the transportation of TDZ, two groups of rats were intravenously administered 6…
