  • Emerging entities in NUTM1-rearranged neoplasms. [Review]
Genes Chromosomes Cancer 2020McEvoy CR, Fox SB, Prall OWJ
  • Structural alterations of NUTM1 were originally thought to be restricted to poorly differentiated carcinomas with variable squamous differentiation originating in the midline organs of children and adolescents. Termed NUT carcinomas (NCs), they were defined by a t(15;19) chromosomal rearrangement that was found to result in a BRD4-NUTM1 gene fusion. However, the use of DNA and RNA-based next gene…
  • Effects of Family-Centered Media Literacy Training on Family Nutrition Outcomes. [Journal Article]
Prev Sci 2020Austin EW, Austin BW, Kaiser CK
  • Parents frustrated about food marketing influences need media management skills to challenge marketing messages and interpret factual content. We tested a media literacy-based, family-centered intervention to reduce effects of appealing, but unrealistic, food marketing. We hypothesized that participation would facilitate family discussion that improves the home dietary environment and increases y…
  • Exploring the Experiences of Women Who Develop Restrictive Eating Behaviours After Bariatric Surgery. [Journal Article]
    Obes Surg 2020Watson C, Riazi A, Ratcliffe D
  • CONCLUSIONS: This study is one of the first to specifically explore restrictive eating disorders after bariatric surgery using a qualitative approach. The findings of this study may offer helpful aspects for professionals to hold in mind when identifying individuals with problematic restrictive eating behaviours following bariatric surgery. Body contouring surgery, internalised weight bias and weight stigma are explored in relation to the post-bariatric surgery treatment pathway. The current diagnostic criterion for anorexia nervosa are discussed to highlight difficulties in diagnosing this presentation in the post-bariatric surgery population, where people can have BMIs over 25 kg/m2 but are severely restricting energy intake.
  • Enteric Virome and Carcinogenesis in the Gut. [Review]
    Dig Dis Sci 2020Emlet C, Ruffin M, Lamendella R
  • Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths in both the USA and the world. Recent research has demonstrated the involvement of the gut microbiota in CRC development and progression. Microbial biomarkers of disease have focused primarily on the bacterial component of the microbiome; however, the viral portion of the microbiome, consisting of both bacteriophages and eukaryot…
  • Capsid protein structure in Zika virus reveals the flavivirus assembly process. [Journal Article]
Nat Commun 2020; 11(1):895Tan TY, Fibriansah G, … Lok SM
  • Structures of flavivirus (dengue virus and Zika virus) particles are known to near-atomic resolution and show detailed structure and arrangement of their surface proteins (E and prM in immature virus or M in mature virus). By contrast, the arrangement of the capsid proteins:RNA complex, which forms the core of the particle, is poorly understood, likely due to inherent dynamics. Here, we stabilize…
