  • Idiopathic bilateral jugular phlebectasia in a 9-year-old boy. [Case Reports]
    Int J Pediatr Otorhinolaryngol 2020; 131:109892Guanà R, Garofalo S, … Gennari F
  • A nine-year-old boy came to our clinic for the appearance of a voluminous swelling at the base of the neck in the jugular area after coughing. He underwent fibroscopy and a contrast-enhanced chest computed tomography (CT) scan, which did not indicate pathological findings even during the Valsalva maneuvre. After a color-Doppler ultrasound of the epiaortic vessels was obtained, a diagnosis of idio…
  • Vena capitis prima and the cavernous sinus in human embryos and fetuses. [Journal Article]
    Ann Anat 2020; :151467Hayashi S, Kim JH, … Rodríguez-Vázquez JF
  • After the intracranial venous-drainage route is switched from the vena capitis prima (VCP) to the transverse sinus, the cavernous sinus is considered to develop from a connecting part of the VCP with the ophthalmic vein (OPV). Observations of histological sections from 12 embryos and 47 fetuses (6-35 weeks) demonstrated that 1) at six weeks, a major tributary of the VCP ran inferiorly in the plic…
  • Outcomes and Predictors of Popliteal Artery Injury in Pediatric Trauma. [Journal Article]
    Ann Vasc Surg 2020Maithel S, Fujitani R, … Nahmias J
  • CONCLUSIONS: A higher index of suspicion should be present for PAI in pediatric trauma patients presenting with a closed patella fracture/dislocation after blunt trauma. PVI is most strongly associated with PAI in penetrating trauma. Prompt recognition of PAI is crucial as there is a greater than 10% amputation rate in the pediatric population.
  • Synthesis of cationic quaternized pullulan derivatives for miRNA delivery. [Journal Article]
    Int J Pharm 2020; :119041Moraes FC, Antunes JC, … Letourneur D
  • Pullulan is a natural polysaccharide of potential interest for biomedical applications due to its non-toxic, non-immunogenic and biodegradable properties. The aim of this work was to synthesize cationic pullulan derivatives to be able to form complexes with microRNAs (miRNAs) driven by electrostatic interaction (polyplexes). Quaternized ammonium groups were linked to pullulan backbone by adding t…
  • Mechanisms of mTOR and Autophagy in Human Endothelial Cell Infected with Dengue Virus-2. [Journal Article]
    Viral Immunol 2020 Jan/Feb; 33(1):61-70Kong W, Mao J, … Zuo L
  • The mechanistic mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) plays a crucial role in response to many major cellular processes, including cellular metabolism, proliferation, and autophagy. Both mTOR and autophagy are suggested to be involved in the viral infection. However, little is known about the role of mTOR and autophagy in human endothelial cell infected with dengue virus-2 (DENV-2), this study is …
