  • Vesicovaginal fistula in a dog with urinary incontinence. [Journal Article]
J Am Vet Med Assoc 2019; 255(4):466-470Shea EK, Berent AC, Weisse CW
  • CONCLUSIONS: To the author's knowledge, vesicovaginal fistulas in dogs have not been previously described and should be considered a differential diagnosis for persistent urinary incontinence and recurrent urinary tract infections in female dogs. Vaginoscopy in addition to cystourethroscopy was required to identify the abnormality in this patient. Because multiple concurrent anomalies can be present, both procedures should be performed in female dogs with these clinical signs, even if an abnormality is identified cystoscopically.
  • Robotic vesicovaginal fistula repair. [Journal Article]
    J Minim Invasive Gynecol 2019Nóbrega L, Andrade C, … Vieira M
  • CONCLUSIONS: Traditionally, patients with vesicovaginal fistula after pelvic radiation therapy and multiple abdominal surgeries are managed by laparotomy. This video demonstrates a feasible robotic approach to vesicovaginal fistula repair, with superior imaging affording a three-dimensional vision and stabilization of instruments allowing wrist-like movements.
  • Update on vesicovaginal fistula: A systematic review. [Review]
Arab J Urol 2019; 17(1):61-68El-Azab AS, Abolella HA, Farouk M
  • CONCLUSIONS: VVF is rare in developed countries. Surgical treatment is the primary method of repair. The outcome of surgical reconstruction exceeds 90%, but the outcome may be suboptimal in RT-induced VVFs. Abbreviations: PRISMA: Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses; RT: radiotherapy; (S)UI: (stress) urinary incontinence; UVF: ureterovaginal fistula; VVF: vesicovaginal fistula.
