  • Neighboring base sequence effect on DNA damage. [Journal Article]
J Biomol Struct Dyn 2019; :1-10Lee YA, Cho HY, Kim SK
  • Guanine is the most strongly oxidized base in DNA; generation of a guanine radical cation as an intermediate in an oxidation reaction leads to migration through a resulting cationic hole in the DNA π-stack until it is trapped by irreversible reaction with water or other free radicals. In the case of normal sequences, the primary position of Guanine oxidations by one-electron oxidants such as carb…
  • Molecular and Clinical Investigations on Portuguese Patients with Multiple acyl-CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency. [Journal Article]
Curr Mol Med 2019; 19(7):487-493Henriques BJ, Lucas TG, … Gomes CM
  • CONCLUSIONS: Advanced molecular diagnosis, structural analysis and clinical correlations reveal that MADD patients harboring a severe prognosis mutation in one allele can actually revert to a milder phenotype by complementation with a milder mutation in the other allele. However, such patients are nevertheless in a precarious metabolic balance which can revert to severe fatal outcomes during catabolic stress or secondary pathology, thus requiring strict clinical follow-up.
  • Body coloration and mechanisms of colour production in Archelosauria: the case of deirocheline turtles. [Journal Article]
    R Soc Open Sci 2019; 6(7):190319Brejcha J, Bataller JV, … Font E
  • Animal body coloration is a complex trait resulting from the interplay of multiple mechanisms. While many studies address the functions of animal coloration, the mechanisms of colour production still remain unknown in most taxa. Here we compare reflectance spectra, cellular, ultra- and nano-structure of colour-producing elements, and pigment types in two freshwater turtles with contrasting courts…
