  • Varicella Zoster Virus Vasculitis and Adult Cerebrovascular Disease. [Review]
    Neurohospitalist 2019; 9(4):203-208Bakradze E, Kirchoff KF, … Liberman AL
  • The role of Varicella zoster virus (VZV) in neurological illness, particularly cerebrovascular disease, has been increasingly recognized. Primary infection by VZV causes varicella (chickenpox), after which the virus remains latent in neuronal ganglia. Later, during aging or immunosuppression, the virus can reactivate causing zoster (shingles). Virus reactivation can also spread to cerebral arteri…

  • [Features of clinical picture of Herpes zoster in infants]. [Journal Article]
Zh Nevrol Psikhiatr Im S S Korsakova 2019; 119(7. Vyp. 2):67-73Shishov AS, Shakaryan AK, … Mitrophanova IV
  • CONCLUSIONS: Two rare cases of disease are reported: 1) a 3-month girl with polymorphic rash appeared on the skin and monoparesis of the left hand, 2) a 5-month girl due to infection with the varicella-zoster (VZ) virus occurred intrauterine. The data on the frequency and interpretation of the genesis of motor disorders in patients with different localization of rashes are presented. The authors draw attention to the latent phase (interval between the primary infection of the fetus and reactivation of VD-viral infection with a picture of HZ), which was 10 months.
  • [Indications for varicella zoster and herpes zoster vaccination in multiple sclerosis: current situation]. [Review]
    Nervenarzt 2019Winkelmann A, Löbermann M, Zettl UK
  • In patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) primary varicella zoster virus (VZV) infections (chickenpox) or reactivation (shingles, herpes zoster) pose a particular challenge for neurologists and physicians in everyday clinical practice. On the one hand the various immunotherapeutic agents for treatment of MS have differently expressed risks for VZV-associated infections and on the other hand the cu…
