Successful cardioneural ablation for deglutition syncope.
Heart Lung 2026 May 11; :102819. [Online ahead of print]

Abstract

Neurocardiogenic syncope-also known as vasovagal syncope-affects up to 40% of adults in their lifetime. Deglutition or "swallow" syncope is a rare subtype of neurocardiogenic syncope induced by distension of the vagally innervated esophagus during swallowing. We report the case of a patient with swallow syncope who underwent cardioneural ablation, leading to a significant reduction in symptom burden and improvement in his quality of life.
