- A Sudden Decline in Global Stroke Rehabilitation Randomized Controlled Trials and Female Enrollment Associated With the COVID-19 Pandemic. [Journal Article]Am J Phys Med Rehabil. 2026 May 27. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Our analysis of 3,602 stroke rehabilitation RCTs showed a sudden decline both in publication of trials and female enrollment in 2023, which then partially rebounded in 2024. We speculate that the pandemic led to significant burdens for researchers conducting RCTs, which in turn resulted in publication delays, compared to previous years.

- Neighborhood Characteristics, Ambulation Ability, and Social Vulnerability of Individuals with Spina Bifida. [Journal Article]Am J Phys Med Rehabil. 2026 May 29. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: People with SB reside in areas with social vulnerability risk factors and travel long distances to receive care. Although mobility may depend on environmental context, functional level of lesion was the only predictor of ambulatory ability.

- Quo Vadis PM&R and Electrodiagnostic Medicine ? [Journal Article]Am J Phys Med Rehabil. 2026 May 27. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) residency review committee (RC) for physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) has significantly revised the core competency criteria for electrodiagnostic medicine (EDM). In particular, the number of consultative clinical encounters both performed and observed has been dramatically reduced in total by 25% from 200 to 150. It is co…

- Effectiveness of a Mobile Health Exercise Program for Adults With Mobility Disabilities: A Randomised Controlled Trial. [Journal Article]Am J Phys Med Rehabil. 2026 May 28. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This large hybrid trial shows that scalable mHealth exercise programs can increase short-term physical activity among adults with mobility disabilities, though sustaining activity after the intervention ends remains challenging.

- Severe Focal Abdominal Weakness Presenting as an Abdominal Hernia. [Case Reports]Am J Phys Med Rehabil. 2026 Jun 01; 105(6):e80-e83.AJ
- A 56-year-old female presented to her primary care physician (PCP) with years of a chronic right-sided abdominal mass. Initial imaging with an abdominal computed tomography (CT) did not reveal a true hernia but did show significant abdominal muscle wasting, causing outpouching of her abdominal wall. General surgery was consulted and noted a lack of response of the abdominal musculature on the rig…
