- Brain Sex Steroid-Mediated Intergenerational Sex-Specific Neurocognitive Effects of Paternal Sevoflurane Exposure in Rats. [Journal Article]Anesth Analg. 2026 Jul 09. [Online ahead of print]A&A
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that male-specific neurodevelopmental abnormalities following paternal preconception sevoflurane exposure arise from stress- and inflammation-programmed increases in brain-derived testosterone during the critical brain masculinization period, involving both AR and E2 signaling.

- Prehospital Pain Management in Trauma Treated by Helicopter Emergency Medical Services: Association of Patient and Physician Sex. [Journal Article]Anesth Analg. 2026 Jul 08. [Online ahead of print]A&A
- CONCLUSIONS: In this large cohort, we found sex-related differences in patient-reported analgesia: male patients were more likely than female patients to report insufficient analgesia. Treatment by male physicians was associated with better patient-reported analgesia. Ketamine and its combination with opioids were associated with greater patient-reported NRS reduction compared to opioid monotherapy in a prehospital setting.

- An Analysis of Quality Assurance Events in Nonoperating Room Anesthetizing Locations: A Qualitative Retrospective Cohort Study. [Journal Article]Anesth Analg. 2026 Jul 07. [Online ahead of print]A&A
- CONCLUSIONS: This large qualitative study characterized NORA QA events across multiple dimensions. Our findings highlight that QA events in NORA are complex and often due to a combination of factors, underscoring both clinical and systems-level vulnerabilities. These findings may provide a framework for targeted quality improvement interventions.

- CONCLUSIONS: Key elements to consider when designing and conducting a comparative effectiveness anesthesia trial include promoting participant comfort and trust, ensuring clear communication, highlighting the safety and clinical equipoise of the trial comparators, supportive behaviors from the clinical team, minimizing time burden, and using simple-to-learn digital technology. Findings of this study were used to refine the full-scale pragmatic, comparative effectiveness, randomized controlled trial evaluating patient experiences with TIVA and INVA.
