  • Balance Stability Characteristics of Patients with Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. [Journal Article]
Arch Phys Med Rehabil. 2026 Jul 16. [Online ahead of print]Linru D, Jiejiao Z, … Jianwei DAP
  • CONCLUSIONS: Patients with iNPH exhibited dynamic balance disorders, with a large effect size for overall balance impairment. Sensory system analysis further revealed large effect sizes for both visual and vestibular dysfunction, suggesting that impairments in these sensory modalities may constitute a primary sensory mechanism underlying postural instability in this population.
  • Towards strengthening rehabilitation within health systems: a scoping review of rehabilitation-specific quality indicators. [Review]
Arch Phys Med Rehabil. 2026 Jul 16. [Online ahead of print]Duckaert M, Németh T, … Lamers IAP
  • CONCLUSIONS: This review provides the first overview of rehabilitation-specific QIs with generic applicability and a strong methodological foundation. These findings can inform the selection and implementation of meaningful indicators to enhance the quality of interprofessional rehabilitation care. As such, these rehabilitation-specific QIs can serve as a starting point for quality improvement initiatives, including audit and feedback and benchmarking.
  • Retrospective analysis of the relationship between post-stroke fatigue and aphasia severity. [Journal Article]
Arch Phys Med Rehabil. 2026 Jul 14. [Online ahead of print]Riley EA, Quique YM, … Richardson JDAP
  • CONCLUSIONS: Participants with milder aphasia reported greater post-stroke fatigue than those with more severe impairments. These findings suggest that compensatory cognitive demands and elevated communication expectations that are associated with milder language deficits may contribute to increased fatigue burden. Results emphasize the need for routine fatigue screening across all aphasia severity levels and support reconceptualizing mild aphasia as potentially involving substantial hidden costs.
