- Trends in Postmenstrual Age at Discharge and Predictive Factors Among a Contemporary Cohort of Infants Born Preterm. [Journal Article]J Pediatr. 2026 Jul 13; :115236. [Online ahead of print]JPed
- CONCLUSIONS: Median discharge PMA increased among all infants born preterm. Although indicators of illness were expected predictors of discharge PMA, the importance of unit on discharge PMA within GA strata suggests that practice variation plays a significant role in discharge timing.

- Safety and Efficacy of a Novel Aerosolized Surfactant (APC-0101) for the Treatment of Respiratory Distress Syndrome in Preterm Infants: A Randomized Phase 2b Study. [Journal Article]J Pediatr. 2026 Jul 13; :115229. [Online ahead of print]JPed
- CONCLUSIONS: The pre-specified high dose of aerosolized surfactant, delivered with the APC-0101 system, did not reduce the use of instilled liquid surfactant in infants with early RDS. An exploratory analysis of the low dose APC-0101 showed a reduction in instilled liquid surfactant, an observation that may merit evaluation in a subsequent study.

- Effect of Extended Infusion versus Intermittent Bolus Feedings on Hospital Weight Gain in Extremely Low Birth Weight Infants Born at <29 Weeks of Gestation: A Randomized Non-Inferiority Clinical Trial. [Journal Article]J Pediatr. 2026 Jul 13; :115235. [Online ahead of print]JPed
- CONCLUSIONS: Among infants with ELBW that achieve early enteral feedings, extended infusion feeding was non-inferior to bolus feedings for hospital weight gain.

- Pediatric Phthiriasis Palpebrarum: A French Multicentric Retrospective Study of 20 Cases. [Journal Article]J Pediatr Clin Pract. 2026 Oct; 21:200219.JP
- CONCLUSIONS: Contrary to the previous reports in the literature about pediatric phthiriasis palpebrarum, scalp involvement is a typical finding. Regarding the mode of transmission, no sexual abuse has been identified, but the origins of infantile phthiriasis palpebrarum weren't systematically discerned to assess for possible abuse. Notably, no case was registered after the age of 8 years. Different treatment protocols are used, reflecting a lack of standardization.

- Racial and Ethnic Variation in Outpatient Respiratory Outcomes in Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia. [Journal Article]J Pediatr. 2026 Jul 11; :115237. [Online ahead of print]JPed
- CONCLUSIONS: Both Black/African American and Hispanic children are disproportionately represented in BPD clinics and have a higher likelihood of acute care use, compared with Non-Hispanic White children. To optimize respiratory health outcomes of all children with BPD, further research is needed to identify factors that drive observed racial and ethnic differences.

- Evaluating Empowerment in Adolescents with a Disability and/or Chronic Condition from Neurology and Orthopedic Clinics: A Mixed-Methods Study. [Journal Article]J Pediatr Clin Pract. 2026 Oct; 21:200220.JP
- CONCLUSIONS: This study was the first to use the GYPES in adolescents with diverse disabilities and/or chronic conditions from neurology and orthopedic clinics. Adolescent patients felt empowered when they were actively involved in their health care and informed about the genetics of their diagnosis. Participants also wanted opportunities to empower others going through similar experiences. This study emphasizes the need for access to genetic counseling and opportunities for shared expression to facilitate empowerment.

- Parental Acceptability and Experiences of In-Bed Resuscitation at Birth: Findings From a Cross-Sectional Survey. [Journal Article]J Pediatr Clin Pract. 2026 Oct; 21:200222.JP
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings demonstrate the psychosocial benefits of in-bed ICR, enhancing parental proximity, safety perceptions, and physical contact during neonatal resuscitation and stabilization. These results provide a vital parental perspective that complements clinical outcomes and supports future considerations of zero-separation practices for resuscitated neonates.

- Association of Birth Weight with Delivery Room Endotracheal Intubation Success in Newborn Infants. [Journal Article]J Pediatr. 2026 Jul 07; :115226. [Online ahead of print]JPed
- CONCLUSIONS: Lower birth weight was associated with lower first-attempt intubation success and higher odds of adverse events during delivery room intubation. Awareness that smaller infants are at higher risk for difficult intubation may help optimize provider selection, equipment preparation, and procedural planning in the delivery room.

- Parenteral Lipid Dose and Bilirubin Neurotoxicity in Extremely Preterm Infants: A Factorial Randomized Trial. [Journal Article]J Pediatr. 2026 Jul 04; :115225. [Online ahead of print]JPed
- CONCLUSIONS: The lower maximum lipid dose did not reduce BAER wave V latency. Elevated unbound bilirubin levels occurred at the higher dose, suggesting the need for a multicenter safety trial in extremely preterm infants.
