  • Validation of Plasma p-tau217 as a Biomarker of Prodromal Alzheimer's Disease. [Journal Article]
    Rev Neurol. 2026 Jul 21; 81(7):50619.Monge-García V, Lorenzo-García S, … Monge-Argilés JARN
  • CONCLUSIONS: In our setting, p-tau217p measurement showed a high validity for the diagnosis of prodromal AD, which is consistent with the recent neurological literature. The assay showed high reproducibility, although results may be influenced by renal function. P-tau217p correlated more strongly with CSF p-tau181 than with CSF Aβ1-42.
  • Evaluating the Value of Tissue-Based Assays in the Diagnosis of AE. [Journal Article]
    Rev Neurol. 2026 Jul 21; 81(7):48873.Fang Y, Tan Y, … Ning YRN
  • CONCLUSIONS: TBA serves as an effective complementary tool to CBA for AE diagnosis, with a sensitivity of 78.7% and specificity of 55.6%. Combining a positive TBA with an elevated cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leukocyte count improved diagnostic specificity to 79.5%, suggesting that comprehensive evaluation integrating both assays can reduce missed diagnoses and optimize clinical management.
  • The Dual Role of VEGF in Intracerebral Haemorrhage: From Pathological Mechanisms to Therapeutic Opportunities. [Review]
    Rev Neurol. 2026 Jun 30; 81(6):51435.Niu Y, Wang X, … Zhang JRN
  • An intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH) is a general type of haemorrhage in the brain, which arises due to the rupture of cerebral blood vessels. Many molecules have been investigated for their potential ability to modify hemostasis and blood-brain barrier function in ICH. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is highly expressed in some diseases and helps induce angiogenesis. VEGF serves as a key…
  • Statistical Inference in Database Exploitation: Sample Size and Confounding Factors. [Letter]
    Rev Neurol. 2026 Jun 30; 81(6):52643.Carazo-Díaz C, Prieto-Valiente LRN
  • Database (DB) exploitation is an essential tool in medical and epidemiological research, enabling the extraction of hidden insights from large volumes of information through statistical analysis. This work provides a methodological reflection on two critical aspects of such studies, namely sample size and confounder detection via multivariate analysis. When working with databases, researchers mus…
