- Efficacy of an Oral Chondroprotective Joint Supplement on Stride Length and Gait Symmetry in Aged Geldings with Chronic Lameness. [Journal Article]Animals (Basel). 2026 Apr 17; 16(8).A
- Oral joint supplements (OJSs), specifically those containing glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate, are some of the most popular feed additives fed by horse owners. However, evidence of the efficacy of these nutraceuticals in vivo is lacking. To investigate the impacts of an OJS on equine lameness, 40 geldings (18 ± 7 yr) with chronic lameness and AAEP lameness grades between 2 and 4 (as scored by …

- Neuronal extracellular vesicles regulate axon development in primary cortical neurons via local miR-99a targeting of HS3ST2. [Journal Article]Mol Biol Cell. 2026 Apr 29; :mbcE25120581. [Online ahead of print]MB
- Fully functional neural competence and integrity requires a complex array of communication means among neurons, with extracellular vesicles (EVs) emerging as a relevant mechanism for cell-cell interaction in the CNS. Despite the growing number of studies demonstrating the presence of microRNAs (miRNAs) in axon and EVs, the molecular mechanisms of those miRNAs present in EVs and their functional r…

- Graphene quantum dot-coated mesoporous silica loaded with glucosamine sulfate as a potent antigen delivery system for immunoactivation. [Journal Article]Commun Biol. 2026 Apr 28. [Online ahead of print]CB
- Graphene quantum dots (GQDs) belong to the carbon quantum dot family, with low toxicity, high biocompatibility, and excellent colloidal stability. Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) are recognized as effective drug delivery systems due to their high drug-loading capacity, while glucosamine sulfate (GS) exhibits immunemodulatory properties. In this study, to maximize the immune effect of GS, a…

- Synthesis of Sulfated Glycomimetics with Micromolar Affinity for Midkine. [Journal Article]J Org Chem. 2026 Apr 10; 91(14):5102-5114.JO
- A series of sulfated oligosaccharides (one tetra- and ten disaccharides) have been synthesized to study their interactions with midkine, a heparin-binding growth factor involved in cancer and inflammation. These compounds were prepared as glycosaminoglycan (GAG) mimetics and displayed hydrophobic groups at specific positions to enhance midkine binding. For the synthesis of the tetrasaccharide, a …

- Dietary palmitic acid inhibits colorectal cancer progression through enhancing bisecting GlcNAc. [Journal Article]JCI Insight. 2026 Mar 23; 11(6).JI
- Glycosylation changes are pivotal in colorectal cancer (CRC) development. The role of bisecting GlcNAc, a specific N-glycosylation type catalyzed by glycosyltransferase MGAT3, in CRC progression remains elusive. Previous studies indicated that dietary interventions can be beneficial for patients with certain congenital disorders of glycosylation. However, the impact of dietary fatty acids, such a…

- PET-microplastics trigger endothelial glycocalyx loss via ER stress and ROS unleashing IL-1β-driven SMC switching and early aortic structural impairment. [Journal Article]
- Polyethylene terephthalate microplastics (PET-MPs), a major microplastics component identified in human vasculature, pose emerging environmental health risks. This study systemically profiled MPs in human aortic tissues and investigated the mechanisms underlying PET-MPs-induced aortic injury in vivo and in vitro. Chronic oral exposure of Sprague-Dawley rats to PET-MPs resulted in endothelial glyc…

- Sulodexide for limb salvage in refractory diabetic foot ulcer with arteriosclerosis obliterans: a case report. [Case Reports]Front Endocrinol (Lausanne). 2026; 17:1756228.FE
- CONCLUSIONS: This case report suggests that highly selected DFU patients unresponsive to standard therapies including successful revascularization, Sulodexide may be a plausible salvage or adjunctive therapeutic option. This observation is strictly hypothesis-generating and its potential role warrants investigation in future prospective clinical trials.

- Experience of using modern oral iron formulations for the correction of iron deficiency conditions in women of reproductive age. [Journal Article]Wiad Lek. 2026; 79(1):61-68.WL
- CONCLUSIONS: Conclusions: 1. The results of the study indicate that the FERRO-EURIKA™ food supplement may be an effective oral agent for correcting iron deficiency conditions in women of reproductive age.2. The combination of iron bisglycinate and glucosamine salt of (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolate in the composition of FERRO-EURIKA™ contributes to the normalization of haematologic parameters, even at lower doses of iron compared to standard formulations.3. Women who received the FERRO-EURIKA™ food supplement demonstrated better tolerability and a lower incidence of gastrointestinal adverse effects, leading to higher adherence to therapy and successful completion of the treatment course.
